Tuesday Photo Challenge – Crocodiles
We visited the crocodile farm in Australia. We found out something that was amazing. The crocodiles live a very simple, almost a motionless life.
Large saltwater crocodiles can stay underwater for at least one hour because they can reduce their heart rate to 2-3 beats per minute.
The heart rate varies depending on the body temperature.
10C – 1-8 beats per minute
18C – 15-20 bpm
28C – 24-40bpm
>40C – Irreversible cardiac damage
We were told by the tour guide that the crocodiles that perform jumping and chasing in the show. They were manipulated and get excited, Their heart rate increased so high that they die after the performance. That information is enough for me not to see another crocodile show.
