Tuesday Travel Highlight – Alaska
Alaska was one of the exciting places we have traveled. We watched so much about glacier on National Geographic or BBC channels. But there is nothing like seeing it close up.
We flew to Anchorage. I had my heaviest jacket on when we went to the tourist center. The tour guide said, “Are you from California?” Then I looked around and realized that I was the only teddy bear.
We took the cruise boat to watch the glacier. I felt cold only when the boat got close to the glacier.
After the cruise, we did rafting on a calm river!! When driving around town, we noticed that more people owned seaplanes than cars. It makes sense because only seaplanes can get to and from many of the islands.
The exciting part of our trip was the helicopter ride to the top of the glacier. My husband is a helicopter pilot. The tour pilot said if my husband had his license with him, he would let my husband fly. Anyway, I took a lot of close up photos of the glacier. Eventually the tour pilot found a flat spot to land. We walked around and took photos, and took one for the cruise boat from above!

Well, so you get to do exceptional things, huh…..
Getting back to your post. Amazing. What an experience this must have been. I have a friend here in Az who lived for quite a while in Alaska. She has lots of stories. She loves it there, is thinking about returning. She says that she is a Polar Bear. She growls at me. She’s funny. But this is wonderful that bloggers can read and see these photos you share.
Thanks

It was taken from the cruise boat, in fact, the first three, I think are from the cruise. The later ones are from the helicopter and after the landing.

We also had visited Tracy Arm fjord by cruise ship, but we did not join in any excursion. I had a few photos that I can share later. Dennis

I went to Newport Beach one day. Went to one shop. What happened was that he made a nest kind of sphere, put a spinning colored light inside, turned it on in a dark room and take all kind of photos, and sell the photos!!!!! What you are doing is more professional! 🙂

Thank you for kind comments! I take surf photos for my friends’ kids (groms) as gifts. To improve my skills, I compete in playgrounds such as GuruShots, and I take assignments in National Geographic’s YourShot.
Once in a while, I upload my photos to iStockPhotos by GettyImages to be sold as ‘stock’ photos.

Thank you! Aren’t they gorgeous? I hope they are not melting too fast. The water level is raising one inch a year, and the glacier both in north and south are cracking away!!!
