Snowing – Portland, OR
Our daughter and son-in-law live in Portland, Oregon. It was snowing last night. They sent us photos around 9:30 p.m. The snow kept falling overnight. They sent us photos of the snow again at 10:00 a.m. this morning. Wow, it was so lovely. How we wish we were there. The good news was that they could work at home through the company internet.

Wow! It looks like these photos were taken out of the song, “Winter Wonderland.” 😀 How wonderful! ♥
P.S.: I see that you’ve gone award free. Haha, I was about to nominate you for the One Lovely Blog Award, but since you are award free now, I still wanted you to know that I was thinking of you. 🙂

Thank you for thinking about me. Finding nominees takes time. After I finish the process, I feel like needing a break, change my mindset before I get back to the mood of writing. So that was why the decision was made. I really thank you from my heart!

Beautiful pictures! My husband and I moved to Portland, from Southern California last summer and this has been a real amazing thing for me, dealing with the snow. We live in Downtown and basically everything shut down. My husband can walk to work, so he went in, but only a handful of people were able to make it into the office. A lot of the stores and restaurants are closed too. The sun is out now and it’s slowly starting to melt, although the city is still very much closed down. It’s pretty to look at, but I long to move back to Los Angeles!

Will your husband find another job when you move back. I like to visit Portland, but when it’s cold, I don’t feel like moving around!

Yes, moving back will depend most likely on his career, rather than mine. The job he got in Portland is amazing and he’s really happy with the company, so I think we might be here for awhile, however, he also to frequently fly to Los Angeles for work, so I’m holding out hope that they will see a need for a job transfer. We still have a home in Big Bear Lake, which is a few hours from Los Angeles and although neither of us have family in CA ( my family has all died and his live in Europe), a majority of my close friends are in Los Angeles, so anytime I can visit, I do. In addition to the “cold-weather-lets bundle up, read books and watch movies” vibe of winter, I’m really enjoying being able to wear cold-weather clothes in Portland. I miss LA, but this is a fun change of pace.

Portland is a nice place, other than the cold weather. My daughter and son-in-law love it. Of course they went to Univer there and started to have a bunch of friends who still stick together. After 14+ years of friendship, some are at the stage of babysitting each other’s babies to give a break to their friends. The average age of people is 35, my husband looked it up. They are very friendly, very casual, down to earth, very accepting. My son-in-law has been working for this company for 10 years, hired before he graduated. He is a mechanical engineer, just promoted to be part of the management team. I don’t know if you want to connect in Portland. Which part of Portland do you live?

My daughter and her hubby love that. They go cross country skiing on New Year’s Eve with a bunch of friend as a tradition, and many many snow activities! Thank you for your comment. Love, Miriam

It’s snowing here in England as well. Can’t say I’m thrilled about it, not a fan of snow or winter in general. The pictures look very peaceful though.

Yes, the snow looks pretty but it cause other issues. My daughter and husband stayed home for one day. Snowplow didn’t start working yet. They had an option of working at home. but went to work today!

The snow fell here in Manchester last night so I’m also looking out on a wintery scene although nowhere near as thick as Portland.. Thankfully I can stay in and don’t have to drive as the roads will be chaos.. xx

Yes, imagine how wet the road is as people and cars try to avoid this and that. Glad you could stay home!! Keep warm too!

I’d love to see this kind of snow, we got just under an inch today, but it’s bound to turn to ice by the morning!

It looks quite a few inches. Yes, under an inch would get melted and slippery. Just be safe!!

Wow! I heard Portland got a huge amount of snow last night. These are great photos! Luckily, here in Seattle we have a bright and sunny, but cold day (29 degrees), and no snow. With all our hills and very little snow-clearing equipment in the city, that’s good for us. Hope your family is doing okay with the snow!

Yes, they are doing okay. They had snow before Christmas. They could ski and make snow angels in the nearby park.

They got a little more than we did here in Canby. The snow yesterday was pretty. But I am tired of snow. We simply just don’t get this much here, but you know that already.

Yes, I think it’s unusual this year that Portland got so much snow. I would just stay home even if I were there

Yes, I prefer southern CA, but it has been raining and gets flooded in some areas.

Yes, I have seen it on the television.

The thing is, Californians don’t know how to drive in the rain, thus, accidents!
