Woah, that’s an awesome painting! 🙂 I especially like the way you layered the colours for the grass. I find that watercolours are actually a medium that requires a fair bit of precision because of how quickly each layer dries.

For the sky, I did wet on wet because I want the colors blend before they get dried. For the grass, I did wet on dry, so the paper absorb the paint and dry faster, when I put the next layer of color, it wouldn’t smear! Thank you for the comment. It’s always good to hear from someone who could ‘see’ how I did it!

Yes, someone like to spend a weekend there! When I travel and see some homes are miles apart from each other, I can’t help but think of how they get the daily supplies!

I love the vibrancy of the colours which for watercolour is a good thing. I really enjoyed your reflections – you have that down pat.

For the reflection, I had some practice before this one. I’m still learning the blending of colors.

Yes, I think skills learned from other areas transferred. The painting is not perfect yet. I’m learning other skills to make smoother blending when different colors meet.

Ah, I just realized that I have discovered something like that, transferred skills, in my life too! I’ve been learning to play jazz piano for a couple of years now and, especially when I work in improvising, I find many parallels with writing. For instance, you have to know a song really well before the improvisation over the chords flows freely- like knowing writing skills well before “improvising” a new story line, etc. Thanks for reminding me!

You’re very welcome. I appreciate anyone who could play instruments. I basically sing and play a little piano!

One of my sister in Hong Kong is a ballroom dance instructor. She also demonstrate Tai Chi. She must be good in rhythm, she picked up a couple Chinese instruments and recorded it, post on FB. Bur the music lessons here are so expensive!

After I went to bed, I thought of changing solitary to peaceful. It has different connotation to it. I think I would. We’ll learn to paint portrait in the next few weeks, but I like landscape better.
