Lush Green
We traveled to London in one spring. The climate of London is temperate, with modest daily high temperatures during summer and low in winter. Rainfall is fairly regular, occurring throughout the year. The time we went, there were a couple rainy days. My husband’s cousin and his family live by the river and own a boat. He wished he could take us out for a boat ride had it not be raining. The rain made the trees and grass lush green in many cities we visited. We went to Stonehenge, Bath, and Longleat in the county of Somerset which is 97 miles west of London. The rich and lush green were sooth scenes. The journey was surprisingly pleasant.

Lord and Lady Weymouth actually live in part of Longleat house. The safari park on the estate was opened in 1966 and was, apparently the first safari park to open outside of Africa. I went a couple of times as a child in the 70’s. I have a photo somewhere that was taken there of me holding a very young tiger cub.

Oh, how precious! I took a few photos of the monkeys in safari climbing on tourist cars. We toured the Longleat house, the part that is open for visit. I saw a painting done by someone with the same last name as my husband’s – Hurdle. You had an interesting childhood. Thank you for sharing.

Maybe the painter and your husband are distantly related. All my childhood holidays were spent on the South West coast, very happy memories. The monkeys are the funniest until they decide to pull bits off your car 🙂

My husband’s sister is into genealogy. She discovered quite a bit about their ancestor. You must have a lot of fond memory of childhood stories.

I’m surprised at how green the grass looks! You must have had a lovely time there 🙂 I once visited London during the summer and got to visit a few lovely parks, but I didn’t see expanses of nature quite as verdant as the ones you must have visited.

I think we were there in May. It still rained off and on. I think the rain kept trees and grass green. I don’t what what it looks like in summer. We were fortunate to see the green grass, but as far as doing thing with friends and family, we stayed indoor. When my husband cousin started BBQ in the backyard, it started raining, his wife had an umbrella over the BBQer…. we spent the rest of the day inside!

I can’t image living in Longleat, the mansion in the far distance. I guess that was how people lived in England centuries ago. Yes, it’s very beautiful. Thank you!

Yes, I love our visit. Will go back soon. Greenery is good… like the history also…that would include people and things… The whole world needs the greenery to survive, that’s another subject!

The lush green is so mesmerizing. I am eagerly waiting for monsoons to make my surroundings a similar lush green.
