The Sound of Music – Austria
Austria is a beautiful country to visit. The mountain ranch is majestic. Being a music lover, traveled to Salzburg and Vienna was a thrill to me. We visited Mozart’s Birthplace, admired his statute, and enjoyed the beauty of Salzsach River. We didn’t have a chance to visit the movie site where “The Sound of Music” was made, but we drove by the Von Trapp Family Home. The color photo is from the movie, and the black and white photo is the real Von Trapp family. For more real story about the Von Trapp Family, please refer to http://www.ebners-waldhof.com/von-trapp-family.
We went on to Vienna, and enjoyed a Romantic concert of Mozart and Strauss.

That was my dream came true. My daughter did a summer study abroad in Salzburg during Mozart’s 200th birthday. There was celebration. I’m glad I eventually got to go. Very enjoyable! Thank you for liking the photos!

You’re welcome. Yes, to relive Mozart music is such an awesome experience.

Yes, since his music seems to have patterns. His “theme” comes back again and again in different variations. It was believed that it could improve students’ learning. I have sets of Mozart music for improving different academic skills.

Classic, but thanks for that information i dint know it can improve students learning. He is such a genius. Thanks Miriam for sharing that , i learned something new today.

Such beautiful photos and what a fantastic musical trip! Mozart is my favorite composer so those would be the same places I would go (eventually).

It’s interesting that in US, the popular Mozart photo is his one with the frizzy hair, but in Austria, all the sculptures and pictures of Mozart have nicely combed hair. Perhaps that’s the way they want to present him.

How very interesting! I never knew that…but yes perhaps that’s how they want us to remember him.

I was used to see him like just used his fingers to shake his hair. I kept look for a sculpture that looks like that, and then came my observation.

Great observation! I just remembered my friends would bring me Mozart chocolate when they returned from Europe…that image has the nicely combed hair too

Mozart had tough life, they don’t need to present him as the one in the movie. The ending of the movie was not true anyway – the way he died.

Yes…they should make another movie to present him as he was…although I’m sure producers will always change things around :0

Yes, they can say that it’s a movie, not documentary. Mozart died without finishing his last piece, because he was sick, the movie was right up to that point. In the true story, Mozart’s student finished it for him. Just like Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, his student finished for him.

I remember during my ‘low’ moments, I listened to Tchaikovsky’s Pathetique, symphony #6 in B minor, over and over again, let his melancholy music speak for me!
