Tunnel of Music
Tunnel of music, my great hideout
Surrounded by musical sounds
Utters my unspoken language
Sounds out my unspeakable profound
Carries me to cloud nine
Wings my spirit high
Laments the deep sorrow
Echoes in my heart’s hollow
Speaks for my heart break
Clashes my entangled struggle
Dances for the joyous chance
Drums to my rhythmic victory
Waves my dreamy fantasy
Serenate my romantic love
My symphony
My empathy
My company

Great words so very true, I think if it wasn’t for music the world would be a completely different place. Could the earth exist without it in today’s society I wonder.

Music is necessary as water for me … music fills my days … and some nights too. I love all music nearly, maybe not modern jazz. My favourite composers are Mozart, Hans Zimmer and the “boys” in ABBA (Björn & Benny).
Your post is a celebration of all music … and how important it’s for our feelings, moods, heart and soul.

Loved the way you showed us all the ways music helps us and is loved by us. I think music is wonderful and is shown to have a wonderful effect on the soul i.e David playing for King Saul. But it seems to me that music alone is always searching for it’s Soulmate in words to blend together in song??? It also seems to me that Lyrics have more of an impact in our lives than words alone can do. Bravo!!!

By singing the hymns, I memorized God’s love and greatness, even though I don’t remember any of the sermons! It helps me to memorize the scriptures also. When I’m in need, the songs I memorized speak to me and comfort me more than anything. It’s something about the lyrics accompanied with music that make “words” more powerful!!!

Yes, you are so right!!! It is amazing how much more powerful and memorable words and music are when they are blended together in a song. Such a right on insight into how powerful a song can be.
My personal experience with this was the last time I saw my Dad, about six months before his passing. He had advanced Alezheimers. I was playing through some old hymns and even though he couldn’t remember anything he starting singing the words to those hymns just perfectly. The last one he sang to my playing and my last memory of Dad was him singing “The Old Rugged Cross”. How fitting, and what a wonderful memory for me!!!
Thanks for sharing on this topic.

Yes, thank you for sharing your dad’s story. My husband has a friend who has Alzheimer, we visited him. His daughter talked about this and that and asked if he could remember. He said ‘no.’ But then when my husband started talked about flying and yachting, his eyes brightened up and talked about his many experiences. Yes, those early memories are long term memories. In other word, I should tried to refresh my memorized hymns and scriptures to prepare for older age when memories fades!! Thank you for your dad’s story!!

Was just reminded of a great hymn – “It Is Well With My Soul” that you might like! You might enjoy reading about the Songwriter and how he came to write it – see Wikipedia.
Have a blessed Day.

Yes, I read about that in Chinese when I was in Hong Kong. I had a book about the hymn writers and the backgrounds. Thank you for reminding me! Blessings be with you also!!

And thank you for reminding me again about the beauty and history of hymns. They are wonderful!
Also remembered that I had seen a really great site on Hymns that you reminded me of in your reply. Now it is like trying to remember a fact you know but can’t quite remember. This is going to bug me for awhile. In the meantime, I did find this site that you might also like on hymns, their authors and even has sheet music!!!

Just wanted you to know how much I appreciated connecting with you on this subject and how telling you of my last memory with my Dad gave me just the right “Nudge” to write a very special poem about it last night.
I can’t tell you how much that means to me! It’s titled “Special Time With Him”. I will post it on my blog sometime soon.
Thank you so much for being so thoughtful, caring and inspiring!! I really appreciate that you took time to interact with me in your comments and that they have given me such a great momento of that memory with Dad! Just goes to show how wonderful it is to be able to reach out and make a difference. Thanks for doing that for me!!
Many Blessings!

You’re very welcome. We all need that on certain things. Sometimes there are memories or situation in our subconcious we didn’t quite know how to express. By talking to someone brings certain things that help those thoughts come to surface. Look forward to reading your post. Send me a link, makes it easier for me to read it right away. God bless you.

Oh yes music is indeed our hideout too, especially when we are alone. We sing or hum to our favorite tunes, so it is solace. The rhythm keeps us going, so its therapeutic.
