52 Weeks of Thankfulness: Week 8 – Best Gift of Books
This is the 52 Weeks of Thankfulness – Week 8 at Haddon Musings
Avid reader, my daughter as a young child
Books and books gabbled down like wild
Nursery Rhymes were memorized by five
Short stories, chapter books into them she dived
Wonderful world she wanted to explore, from
Beautiful images in her mind had stored
“1000 Places to See before You Die”
Takes her eagerly fly into the sky
What treasure you can give to a child
Books that take them into the “Wild”
~

I only wish my daughters inherited my love for books… they both went on to study extensively, and say now that a book reminds them too much of study… when they relax they want to watch a movie…
I just don’t get it!
Thanks for lovely post!
Regards. Marie.

After I finished my doctorate, I didn’t want to touch any book. I said I wanted to watch tv for a year! Funny, I said the same thing you daughters said, but I’m back to reading now! Miriam

I’ve given Where the Wild Things Are to all my nieces and nephews at one point in time. It’s a book every kids should have.

Oh yes, that was my favorite book to read to my students years and years ago when I first taught. The illustration is wonderful. It made into a movie!

Yes, it’s very important that the kids learn as much as possible before 6 years old. I have a member in the poetry class, her mom asked her to memorize one poem a day since 4 years old. Now she published many poetry books!

Just simply beautiful, I was talking with someone on my post. And I said I am an impulsive buyer, she said that men can’t be impulsive. I said in terms of book I am.
Whenever I go back to my home country, I bring book. My luggage usually consist of books at one time I was bringing 40kg of books and was stopped by customs lol

Oh good to meet a book lover. I saved all my text books. Whenever I go to bookstores, I never leave empty handed. I taught for 15 years before I became administrator. I saved about 10 boxes of children’s books!

Wow, I wish we have that love of book where I am residing, we don’t have library. No books specially English.
I have to order online or if someone is selling I grab them, for my daughter.
It’s unfortunate, people don’t give that much attention to reading books in this part of the world.

Technically you don’t have too, WP in yr Stats shows this, whole list. In some themes they put it as well. But it used to be in the old themes specially.
You can look into it. Do let me know if you find it.

I only see that I have about 400 from US, 60 from India, so on and so forth…I’ll make my own to reflect my current supporters. I probably have 1000 inactive followers!

Hmm I don’t know how you will make it, wish you all the best.

I’ll copy a map from google and paste it on Publisher, leave a large margin, put the pictures of my followers on the side bar, draw a line from the picture to where they live.

Oh yes we are avid readers too…heheh. Nowadays more blog post reads than books but we still have loads of them (books & magazines) around to leave through when on the road and not examining the back of our eye lids.

I have different stacks of book of different genres. My daughter still loves books also. She uses online to find info, not so much for reading such as eBook!

Yes, and e-book is way different than holding a book in your hand and turning pages
