VERNAL
Paula at “Lost in Translation” posts a question this week: “Have you found beauty this spring? If so, please share it for this Thursday Special themed VERNAL.
Spring is my favorite season. At the end of winter, I started pruning the roses, trimming other plants, or planting new bulbs. Currently I have forty some rose bushes. When I started planting roses, I almost got all red color. As years go by, I fell in love with other colors. So I have quite a few varieties of roses with yellow, salmon, pink, lavender, and lilac colors.

Beautiful, Miriam! You have quite a green thumb…I need to learn from you! Gives me great hope that these roses make it through the heat of the S. Cal summers…do they get any shade during the day or full sun? The purple one…what is that one called?

Most of my roses are in full sun. The purple one – I have to see if I still have the label. I got my green thumb from my dad! Lovely thing to have to remember him!

Yes, it has wine fragrance, when you smell it, you feel like can’t be drunk from it…my favorite too!

Hmm, I don’t remember that, but maybe that’s why it was intoxicating!😂

Haha, I’m kidding! I never smelling it long enough to do anything to me. But it smells sooooo good!

It is perfectly right. We had a cold and rainy winter. All my trees and flowers are grateful and make my garden beautiful. Thank you!

Your roses are stunning. Apart from my climbing roses, the normal bush roses are not doing well in my garden this year. Lovely photos.

When we had drought the last few years, my roses were shrunk, dried, dark looking. Thanks to the rain this last winter. Thank you for your comment!

Forty rosebushes is an incredible number. I tried to grow them once, but without success. Yours are absolutely stunningly beautiful.

I think southern CA is not too hot, not too cold for many plants. Some plants don’t like my soil. I just plant whatever they grow! Thank you for your comment!
