Share Your World – May 15, 2017
Cee has interesting questions for this week, and I love to share my answers.
- How many languages do you speak?
Well, I read and write Chinese. In spoken language, the official Chinese language is Mandarin. I speak Mandarin, and Cantonese is my mother tongue. I also speak a little bit of Spanish. When I worked as school district administrator, part of my job was working with parents. There were many Spanish speaking parents in my community.
- What are you reading, watching, listening to, or eating?
My husband and I watch the nature video every night. Currently, we are watching an Ocean series – South Pacific Islands. Last night we watched the part about “Saving the Sharks.” Some villages on these islands make their living by killing the sharks. The Conservation Program works with the village people, created a tourism business to take divers to the ocean to observe and feed the sharks. The villages benefit from the tourism. The Lead for the diving tour is from the village. His job as diving Lead makes three times more than killing the sharks. The program has been working to save a lot of sharks.
- What was the last photo you took with your phone?
I used my phone to take the following photo in Kelley Point Park, Portland, Oregon, a few days ago.
- What is your favorite time of day?
My favorite time of the day is morning. When I have the coffee in my hand, walking through my garden and check on the flowers and fruit trees. It’s my time to make connection to the earth and appreciate the life and growth of the plants.
Indians know Hindi, but they feel insult when we speak in Hindi.,they quarrel and shout in Bangalore.they said to me, why don’t, you speak on English? They r fool. They have no self respect.I saw it, then they were understanding it ,and speak me in English.

It’s like China. Even within the province, the dialects are different to a point that they don’t understand each other. Even though there is one written language, the newer generations express differently, so couldn’t communicate the meaning even when one can read the words!

Modern people show that they don’t know Hindi, but reality is differ.Without Sanskrit and Hindi we can’t study.Modern people r worst,.They have no self respect. When I went to Banglore,in November 2016,I saw it.Each person understood Hindi, but told me,why can’t you speak in english.?They were quarreling, shouting and argueing me.

Thank you, now that he is retired, he even goes shopping with me. He is changing our diet so he is in charge of it, less cooking for me. I’m so blessed with my relation with him, Mercy and Will. I can’t say that God thinks that I had my share of suffering and now shower me with blessings, but somehow those were testing and trial times, good thing that I didn’t complain about God! At least my daughter takes me as an example – that’s worth of the suffering!

Someday hopefully I will learn Mandarin. I know a few words from my Qigong Master who grew up in China. I really like the flow and meaning. It is so descriptive. Someday. 😀 Your photo is absolutely gorgeous.

Thank you, Cee! I want to learn Qigong, but no one is teaching it around here! Chinese is a unique language. I learned Mandarin by listening. Mandarin and Cantonese are completely different. They can’t communicate with each other! Thank you for your comment!
