Kiwinana’s Weekly Tanka Prompt Challenge for this week is “Domesticated and Wild.”
The following photo features my husband’s niece, Erin Long. She went to South Africa on a business trip. During her free time, she went to the zoo and pet this lovely lion cub. I teased her say, “Are you doing a ‘Born Free’ Sequel?”
Thank you, Elsie. I was glad to have this photo for your prompt, and I’m glad Erin responded to my request to use her photo right away. Yes, I do need the weekend. Enjoy yours!
It’s sad on the one hand that they are there in captivity because of ‘humans’ and yet wonderful that they are been kept alive and safe by humans also. Thanks for sharing.. xx
We don’t know how much intelligence animals have. Some do show good instinct, strategy to protect their young, ways to communicate. It’s amazing to watch the nature videos every night!
So sad, a happy ending and a lucky niece 🙂

Beautiful, nice tanka but a truly sad story that came out on the good side for the lion cub, love the photo.
Thanks, weekend nearly here. Enjoy.
