Weekend Writing Prompt #19 – Abundance
Prose Challenge – Write a story of 150 words that focus on a quality that you think the world could do with in abundance. – Sammi Cox
I would like to approach this challenge from the viewpoint of being individuals of this world; we try to be responsible for our living and spending so that we are not wasting the world’s resource.

It is very true, Meenakshi. We try to be faithful servants of what He entrusted to us!

Thank you so much! I have lot of stories to tell of people that I know who are in debt in their retirement age!!

This all happens due to our uncontrolled desires…which destroy us completely

Yes, that was what my ex did. When we had the divorce, I shared $20,000 debt plus$10,000 of other expenses for the transition!

OMG! Thank God you are out from that ruining relationship now!

Yes, I can’t believe that it was 24 years ago that the relationship ended!

I’m happy for the wise and controlled desicions you two made.. The world would be better off if they followed suit.. Nations would prosper, citizens of the world would be happier and find contentment without financial stress..
If only..

I know… and the 95% of wealth wouldn’t be possessed by 5% of people!!

It would probably remain disproportionate however the consumer “the 95%’ would be a powerful force to be reckoned with..

I appreciate what Bill Gate and Warren Buffet and some others did. They kept a low percentage to themselves and donate the rest for different purposes around the world. Their small percentage is still a wealth to us!

Not too bad. More tired lately, I can feel that less daylight time thing we have here pretty acutely but I’ll get used to it soon. Also very busy with writing projects and trying to publish some of my own creative fiction, involved myself on some sites on FB that provide writers with feedback 500 wrds at a time. So I post and post try to take time to give helpful feedback too. Also, all that other stuff in life errands, cleaning, meeting friends and family etc.
How was your summer?
How are you

I thought only Alaska get less daylight time. I guess you’re pretty north in Canada also. Time goes by faster when you’re busy. My summer went by fast also. I’m taking several classes at an Institute held at State Universities in 26 States. They have more than 100 classes for the semi-retired and retired folks. This is my fourth year taking classes. I take chorale, poetry and watercolor. We worked on several house project – painted the interior of the house, and my husband did several other projects. I’m always busy in gardening. I’m in Portland, OR, hopefully my daughter’s baby will arrive soon.

Wow that’s very cool that there are all those classes to choose from. Early congrats on your granddaughter I hope she comes soon too. Well Alaska and a territory in Canada we call Nunavut, have it so in the depth of winter they only have minutes of sunlight and the remainder of the day is dark. I’m not completely sure how long they deal with this, maybe three months or so but after December 21, it starts to get lighter again little by little wherever you are in Canada. Most noticeable there. I live in the province of Alberta and as it gets to be fall I think September 21, then each day is a few minutes less light, even in August we noticed it’s no longer light out until 11:00 pmish and by this time 9:00 pm is dark. In November we have an awful time change supposedly that should give us more daylight hours after work but the truth of it is from end of November until December 21 it’s dark if you go to work say around 7:30 am and dark when u arrive home around 5:00 pm until 5:30. I find that time in November/ December the worse for SDD that is often something worse when u have depression to begin with. However, it just takes a bit of time to get used to at the end of August and Then in November so I have a couple weeks I feel tired with little energy then I’m used to it. I do also notice for us by the end of January it has began to improve so maybe by 6:00 or 6:30 pm it’s not dark out yet. But are spring and summer is usually for nice, warm, and long days 🙂
Off to work on some freelance stuff. I’m doing stuff for my boss for a Botox Clinic. Fascinating stuff, not only that u can use thins such as Botox for cosmetic enhancement but also for many medical conditions too.
Have a great weekend!

When we were in Anchorage, we did a rafting, the guy who operated the raft was from a town that had no sunlight at all 24 hours either for the month of November or longer. He said the people from the whole town went else where for the period of time but one person will stay to watch that town. That was interesting to us!
I heard of Botox. A wonderful weekend to You!

When reading your post i just have a thought that abundance does not just refer to how much we have but how much we feel satisfied with what we have! For some people having a little humble house is an “abundance” while other people can not enjoy living in their mansion believing it is insufficient!
Thanks for sharing and kind regards,
Nahla

I know it’s not easy these days. College tuitions, rents, and food… everything is getting so expensive. Like food, you may pay the same, but getting a few ozs less….

Agree! Was just sharing with Amy that all these are challenges, but you have done well. I hope to be able to retire without worrying about income. In Singapore, most Singaporeans would say, we need to work till we die. Sigh….

Do you have any retirement system. I’m fortunate to work for the government. Many private businesses don’t have retirement benefits!

So relevant in these times when people fail to live within their means with so many spending options available and the ease of borrowing.
