Eagle Creek Wildfire
The Eagle Creek Fire is a wildfire in the Columbia River Gorge in the U.S. states of Oregon and Washington. The fire was reported on September 2, 2017, and was caused by teenagers igniting illegal fireworks. As of September 11, 2017, the fire had slowed growth, due to rain, yet still expanded 2,000 acres overnight, to 35,588 acres.

I drove through the area two years ago in September, and it looked very dry then. Playing with fireworks round there should not be allowed.

Yes, I know. It was illegal and it was a 15 years old boy who did it.

Friends living in Oregon sent us photos and videos of the fire in the distance. I looked so frightening.

Yes, it’s frightening, from 200s acres to 35,000 acres overnight, that’s unimaginable!

Yes, exactly, the boy who threw the firework is 15 years old. So I don’t know what the states are going to do with him!

Yes, it’s incomprehensive. The fire went wild overnight. The people affected were mandatory evacuated. Days after that, people miles away had to wear mask on the street. My daughter had the windows of the house all closed up. The last few days are getting better but the sky still covered with smoke. I usually could smell the green as soon as I arrive and see the blue sky with rain clouds!

I agree with Frank. Hadn’t heard it’s grown. It’s been a wild season of weather.

Yes, Elizabeth, this year’s weather has been strange. We also had one incident of teenager setting out the fire by playing firework in southern California several years ago. Dry weather doesn’t help wither!

Yes, I know. The boy was identified as a 15 years old who throw the fireworks down the Creek. The sun was actually crimson red, my camera doesn’t have the filter to capture that!

It’s the first time to know about this incident; careless and irresponsible behavior!
how far is it from residential areas?
hope the rain will put out the fire soon!
Best wishes to all of you

There are people living within the fire zone and were mandatory evacuated. Yes, it seems like the rain is coming in a couple of days!

These photographs are beautiful Miriam even though they tell a very sad story. Our hearts go out to the trees that are lost and the wildlife and people who have been lost and displaced 💜 xxx

Thank you, Xenia. People were mandatory evacuated. The first few day, people wore masks when walking on the street. Good thing that my daughter didn’t have to walk too much but had the house all closed up!

We’re not far away from our own fire season here. Up North, they’re already in trouble.
