My daughter Mercy is waiting for her first baby’s arrival. She and I went for a walk to the local park today. We first went to the post office to mail an international letter. Before heading to the park, we stopped by a bakery to pick up some pastries and hot drinks. We then went and sat on the bench in the park, watching the kids running around, going up and down on the slides. The sun came out after two days’ off and on rain. We had such a relaxing time and heartfelt conversation together.
Here are some photos I took on our way to the park and this is the first sign of autumn I captured. The leaves on the maple tree just started to change color. How lovely to see a homegrown pumpkin!
I’ll stay with my daughter until the end of October. The colors of autumn will be gorgeous later next month!
Glad you are having a good time together. Walking is very good for your daughter at this stage. Hope she is doing well!
Thanks for sharing these lovely photos.

Thank you, Michele! The baby should be here anytime. I’m home for 3 days and go back to Portland with my husband and stay for 3 weeks to help with chores!

Excited for you Grandma. I imagine she is wishing just to get the whole having birth thing over with at this point, and have the baby out. At least, this is how many of my best friends felt at this point! Beautiful pictures and such lovely fall images. They’ve literally had the fall/Halloween stuff out since mid August here. I’m thinking to carve a jack-o-lantern or two this year, you can get some very cool online designs now & it lets the kids know your house is olen for business!
Hope everything goes well for you, your daughter, and new grandchild, and quickly. 😊 🍂
Thank you so much! She tries everything, walking, taking herbs, using oil, squats, and other things. Just waiting for baby’s timing. A lady at the post office said two of her kids were 10 days late, even the second one. I’m going back to CA for a few days to take care of business and come right back.
Thank you for your kind thoughts. My daughter got some ideas online to use drills to carve different designs.
Is it getting cold in Canada yet?
Well, I don’t know too much but I know I was born 10 days late. And my one brother was 4 days late. All my friends who are having kids have pretty much had them attend expected date or time. My one friend had a couple if her kids 3 or 4 days late but other then that everyone else was one time. One of my BFF’s Tara is pregnant, due in February. Tara is always late. If we plan something, I always meet her or wait for her an hour later then she says. That way she is on time. So, I think her baby is going to be late just like her lol.
It’s not too bad. Sometimes we have cold Septembers by the end of the month but we,ve actually had just a few colder days, fall days, and most days are more like an Indian summer around 20 to 26, so we’ve been lucky. October will probably be colder around 10 to 15 degrees C if we’re lucky. Sadly, usually October 31st is are first snowfall, but we’ll see. Enjoy CA, wish I was there 🙂
One year I made Halloween costume with thin material for my daughter. On the day of Halloween, it was so cold, I put the bathrobe on her when I took her to school.
Many kids go to the mall here but I notice costumes for kids up to even 6 or 7 years old are often made of thick material so they can wear them outside. Otherwise kids who do go outside, and when I was little, it’s perfect usual to layer or design a costume over a snow suit. A winter jacket and pants. But it’s hard b/c you need a good costume for school as well. Your poor daughter, it was good you had to her housecoat.
I’m excited for my friends Stagette this month she loves themes and has had many dress up themed parties. Last one was movies from 1986, the year she was born so we dressed up like characters from movies. I did the girlfriend of Tom and Cruise from Top Gun as it was not to hard to copy having a similar leather jacket. I just did eighties makeup and made myself a top gun pun fir the jacket (I got it second hand so I’m okay with piercing it once). For her Stagette we are dressing as 1950’s rockabillies girls or pinup type looks but ones you can wear in public. I found an awesome dress on sail and on YouTube a how to for fifties makeup and hair. For her Shower it’s Audrey Hepburn themed. So black dresses or jump suites in black and pearls so that one is much easier.
A lovely, vibrant, autumal post Miriam! My poems this week are also about autumn in case you have time to look? Have a good day, Sam 🙂
