Just want to let you know that I dropped my laptop and messed up the wires, the screen is cracked, and the snaps are off. The pointer goes wild and is uncontrollable. Right now my laptop is flipped open, but I can’t close it without cracking it further. I’m in Portland, Oregon and will be going back to southern California on Saturday, October 21. I’ll wait to have it fixed or get a new laptop. I don’t know how to carry my laptop on the plane. If I’m lack of communication with you, please blame my computer!!!
I’m not able to search my archives for bird photos. It is with great effort that I use steady hands to find one seagulls photo from our trip to Key West. There are other bird photos, but won’t be able to post them.
Yes, that was what happened for 3 weeks with almost no computer. I bought a new one. The old one just the crack all the way across the screen and the wires are all messed up. Yes, I do copied all the data and photos!
Thank you, Miriam! I got a new laptop which is what I’m using right now! All the new laptops need USB drive for everything because they are so thin and can’t accommodate too many plug in!
Ugh. These digital electronic devices are so fragile. I’m able to post my blogs using the WordPress app for my Android Samsung galaxy note cell phone. The App really comes in handy. I can take photos which go up to the Google Cloud then create a Blog post.
Yes, I did one post with my phone during the last few weeks. The thing is when I need archives, they are all in my computer. Thank you for your comment!!
Best of luck with your laptop! I hope that you’ll find a replacement and will be able to restore all the data from your old laptop! We’re so dependent on our computers that it’s hard to lose them to breakage or failure.
So sorry about this problem Miriam. Yes, you stated it on your comment to my post earlier today. Read those with sleepy eyes. 🙂 I’m truly sorry for that. I hope you can still fix the laptop.
I decided to get a new laptop even if I get this one fixed. It started to get hot. My last laptop got over heated and died. I still get this one fixed and use it as a back up. Thank you for your comment!☺
Miriam, I recommend ditching the laptop when traveling. An iPad is much more portable, just as capable for writing/shopping/reading and the battery will last a few days on a single charge. You can even buy and adapter to download your photos, edit them on the iPad (there are so many apps) and use the WordPress mobile app for posting.
Oh, I didn’t know there are adapters for download photos and do editing for iPad. Thank you. I’ll get them for sure. I know Steve Jobs made it into such a closed system. But years passed and it must be a lot different now.
I forgot to say, for long photo editing sessions I prefer sitting at my desktop with a fresh cup of coffee (or a pint of American craft ale), music over old fashioned wired headphones, and Adobe Lightroom.
Sounds relaxing rather than working! I love to listen to music when I’m on my computer also. Two days ago I listened to the almost an hour long Tchaikovsky’s symphony #6 in B minor…
I pressed the send button by mistake. Well, I made my first post from my phone today. I surely will learn a proper way to use the iPad with the apps and tools. Thank you again. I’ll look at your links when I get home tomorroe.
OMG. Miriam, I am so sorry you are experiencing these problems. When it rains, it pours? I pray your problem with your PC get fixed or at least allow you to transfer your beautiful work to another device. Backups are key. I used the software, Carbonite which keeps my work in the cloud.
Praying that everything will work out for you. What a bummer? Don’t let it stress you too much. There are so many things in life that are worst than a mess up PC, like your health and your grandchildren.
Thank you, Teresa. I have more bird photos from the same trip but couldn’t get them from my folder. I’m going to back up all of my documents and photos before getting on the plane!
I have had my iPad for years. Just used to my computer for publishing, never try to learn to use the iPad since it doesn’t have USB ports. I should learn.
I have tons of photos from my camera and don’t know how to upload the photos to my iPad. My iPad has a sturdy case. My laptop is one of those ultra thin one. I won’t go for that if I get another laptop. 🙁😟
Cheryl, The Bag Lady only uses iPad. She must be good at it. My problem is that I have a large photo folder in my computer that I use for blogging. I can use iPad but don’t know how to insert photos!
Oh no, Miriam. I am so sorry. Have you backed up you photographs and other items on your computer. If you haven’t I think you should in case it stops working. Hugs.
Thank you, Robbie. I need at least 160 GB drive. I’ll ask Will to get one for me tomorrow and copy everything. I can type one letter at a time with the pointer going everywhere in between. I can use my phone and iPad also, but not for making posts. Thank you for your reminder, Robbie!
Great photos, I put up some bird photos recently. Check them out!

Ouch, computer problems are no fun Miriam. Hope you can get them sorted soon. Isn’t it amazing how dependant we become on our devices. Best of luck

Miriam, I’m not a laptop user. For mobile “work” my iPhone or iPad are much better for me.

It works with any SD card on the market. The number of iPad and iPhone editing tools is significant. Some of these apps are free.
Here’s a short list of the top apps.

Perhaps even that is too much. For example of why the gear is sometime irrelevant and why skill is more important read this blog.

It won’t take long time Miriam to be fixed. It happened with a friend and a good computer technician sorted it out in a short time.
