Paula at Lost in Translation: The theme for this Thursday’s Special – Fall
Portland, Oregon is a place where I always want to come back during the fall season. The foileage around the fall season is magical and dramatic. The colors of the trees can change within days. It is a lovely sight to behold.
We went to St. John Cathedral Park last Sunday. The sky was high with trailing clouds. Many families took advantage of the warm weather, have kids running around the park in this leisure afternoon. One person was making huge bubbles to entertain the kids.
We made it to Sauvie Island and baby Autumn had the first pumpkin patch outing.

Yes, the day I left Portland had heavy rain. The colors I saw before I left won’t be there when I go back next Monday. The leaves will fall along with the rain! I’m glad I was there to enjoy the season!

I think they wanted to do it when the weather was good. It ended up with putting rain the last few days. My flight home was delayed by 10 minutes. Have you gotten any rain?☺💛

Yes, we got (probably) the same rain Portland did. And I’m liking it, because my yard really needed the moisture. We just had the grass aereated (and over-seeded) before the rains, so it saved me having to put more hose water on it. Very dramatic storms!

Yes, Mercy has a Tiny Beany account and posts at least one photo a day and a short note. It makes a nice journal! 😀

Mercy is way more organized than me, but I didn’t have any luxury to enjoy what I wanted to do for 10 years of hard time with my ex. I’m happy for Mercy!

Yes, I know what you mean. Maybe I’ve told you already about this, but my oldest son grew up mainly living with my ex-husband largely because he was so darn controlling. It was all I could to do extract myself from the dominating situation, and even though we had joint custody legally, he took steps to make himself the primary parent, culminating in his moving to a different state when Leslie was 4 – no residency laws in Washington back then to protect the other parent from this – there are now, thankfully! I still saw Leslie thank goodness, just on the timetable of my ex-, until I sued for custody when Leslie was 7. At that time I didn’t regain custody – they couldn’t show anything was harmful in his dad’s household – but I did get regular visitation rights (about every 6 weeks) and I got to choose the dates. Then when he was an adult, he became estranged from his father (for the same reasons as I had) and that’s when we became closer again, I wasn’t completely cut off as you and Mercy were. Hard struggle, but it all came out well for both of us! 🙂 – We did the best we could.

Thank you, Teresa, for sharing this with me. My daughter did tell me that her dad was so controlling that she was afraid to make connection with me. As I said earlier, I gave her the hint that she could make decisions on her own once she turns 18 and she tried. She ran away from him, gave him the wrong address. My ex tricked me by putting pressure on Mercy asking me to let her stay with him full time. After 6 month, he sued for full custody. My attorney negotiated and he got primary. Since he didn’t work, I paid him $800 a month for 5 years.
I’m glad you and Leslie became close again. When they are free to think and observe, they’d be more objective and choose the better parent to have a close relationship!

Simply stunning! Moving to North Carolina, I see a different kind of fall foliage. Lots of different colors and hues. I love the colors but I love the cool air best!

Thank you so much! We don’t have that in southern CA. I feel like we skip fall and go right into winter. My husband said it’s still 85 to 95 degrees!! It’ll be cold right after 10/31! It happened before. ☺☺

We are going to be close to 80 today, which is very unusual. But I guess when you really think about it there’s no weather that’s usual anymore.

Thank you, Cee! My first experience going to a pumpkin farm. The kids had a blast running up and down the hay stacks, having a hay ride. We had 3 families of friends of Mercy and Will. They had the same idea of going during those hours!
