Share Your World – January 8, 2018
Here is Cee’s Share Your World questions and my responses:
Do you prefer a bath or shower?
What do I prefer? I prefer taking a bath, but for practical reason, I take shower 99% of the time because It takes less time. There are days when I’m physically exhausted or mentally stressful, I like to take a hot bath with Epsom salt, Concentrated mineral bath soak with Eucalypti and Chamomile, and lavender bubble bath. I soak in the bath with headphone on, listening to my favorite Romantic Adagio CD. It helps to relax my muscles.
What do you do to make a living or during the day? If you are retired what mostly occupies your day? Or if you are a student what are you studying?
I’m retired but I am working and have a busy schedule.
I own an after-school care business. Even though I have several people help me doing the tutoring, teaching Chinese and providing childcare, I do all the things that an employer does.
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays are gym days when I work out with my husband.
Thursdays and Fridays, I take poetry, watercolor, and chorale classes for the retirees at Cal State University in Fullerton.
Not to mention that gardening is my regular routine of the day. I also have church activities several times a week.
Is there a stuffed animal in your bedroom?
No, I don’t, and I have never had a stuffed animal for myself.
What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.
The rain finally came last night. It rained all night and it has been raining lightly but steadily all day. I worried about my garden. Usually, this time of the year provides rain to soak the soil and prepare the soil for spring. This is our first rain of the winter. I hope it will rain a few more time before spring.
I love reading the responses to challenges like, share your world, I learn a lot about bloggers new and old! I’ve learned that you are living a very full life, thank you for sharing your world with us through your lovely posts!

Thank you. I tried, with my limited energy after cancer. I’m happy for what I could do!!

so… you never had a stuffed animal?
and wow- it would scare me to wear headphones in a bath –
but the epsom salt and other goodies – ahhhhh

I can’t recall having a stuffed animal of my own. I got some for my daughter, of course.
I know, the headphone. I dozed off once but didn’t sink into the tub!

ha – that is so fun that you dozed – but caught yourself.
and I wonder if you did have any stuffed animals when you were little )real little) but I know some folks that do not like them at all – dust and mite items – but now they make them with very washable materials…..

I made my own toy when I was little, hmm, I don’t think I made stuffed animals…
Yes, washable materials, my daughter received some hand-me-down things, she makes sure to wash them first. 🙂

that is great and hand me downs these days can be completely awesome – like I heard back in 50s and 60s and maybe even 70s – hand me downs were tattered and torn and worn stuff….
but these days – we get stuff like new or brand new at times….

Yes, especially baby stuff for the 0 – 2, Mercy has so many that she didn’t have a chance to use them and they’re too small already.

yes- especially those little sizes.
and quick story – i have shared this somewhere online before – but when my sister’s third child (a boy) was little – we would go visit and he’d be in a 5 piece suit – at six months.
and then all decked out the next time –
she told us that her first two kids never wore so many things and it was her aim to have this child wear his clothes and she had fun with it –

Miriam, so fun to hear about your weekly activities and your after-school care business. I’m amazed you have time for the senior classes at Cal State – just a testament to your always-learning attitude. 🙂

Yes, I love the classes since there is no homework, just show up and have fun. My on-site assistant who is a teacher of the classroom I use for after-school care is retiring by the end of the year. I’ll need to secure a classroom for next year.

I sense that you’re also very task oriented and expect productivity. Yes, I think you understand. 🙂 My winter break will end this weekend, and all classes and activities begin next week. 🙂

Miriam I so enjoy learning more about my blog friends. How do you manage it all? I hope you get the rain you need for the garden. Your roses look so happy.

Yes, we got the rain and it rained dogs and cats yesterday. The areas that had fire before Christmas had flood and mudslide, killed eight people so far.

I love your gardening flower pictures! I had no idea you worked out and took classes and owned a business oh my you are just about as cool as anyone can be!!!!
I haven’t soaked in a bath in forever. When my daughter was born with a kidney defect we were told she could never take a bath due to infection possibilities and so I just never did again either!
I loved reading your answers. Thank you for sharing!
My only stuffed animal is my daughter’s favorite one as a child that is still on my dresser.

Yes, Beth, I’m busier retired than I was working. Sorry about your daughter’s health problem. Yes, you just have to do your best to prevent the infection. I don’t think my husband takes bath. I only do it a few times a year. Yes, my daughter has stuffed animals also but I don’t count them as mine. Thank you for reading and comment. I usually just make short posts as time allows.
Take care yourself!!

I really enjoyed learning this about you. I am a Child Development Specialist and have worked for over 20 years with children in Head Start, Child Care and the public school. Love working with children. A true blessing from God!

Thar;s great, Laura! I had my Child Development study also and sent on to study Educational Leadership. I did preschool, K to 6, district administration, for 30 years. I started running the after school care when I was a teacher, continue to do that when moved on to admin, and keep doing that after I retired. Thank you for reading my post. I appreciate it!! God is good!!

You’re busy! My parents say they are busier now that they are retired than they were when they worked!

Yes, AJ, I find myself being busier than before. I can’t even have enough time to do everything I love to do (that I couldn’t do when I was working). I need to pick and choose among the things I want to do!!

Miriam is that also you on the cover of the coursebook? Your watercolor is pretty and reminds me of a batik painting I got to make in college. Retirement sounds like the fun kind of busy!

Yes, E. I was on the over of the coursebook. The photographer made me laugh then snapped the shot. They like the photo but I usually don’t present myself that way in photos. They may think that was natural.
Yes, I’m busy in a fun way!

I love your Garfield collections. My collections are porcelain angels and dolphins. My daughter had stuffed animals, but I don’t consider as mine, so I said I had none!

Ooh porcelain angels and dolphins…these can be very expensive as I do remember seeing these in the stores of famous porcelain makers. Do show us your collection one day☺

I love to soak in a hot bath, but am unable to physically get up and down in the tub. But oh how I love a hot shower too! 🙂 God is so good! ❤

I know what it means by not being able to get up and down in a tub. So a year ago, I wanted to install a grab bar by the tub. One thing led to another, we remodeled the bathroom with two grab bars – one on the side and one at the end of the tub on the wall to let me grab on it when getting out of the tub. I love hot shower also, I let the hot water run on my back to help me relax! 🙂
