Our family vacation to China and Hong Kong was a memorable trip. When I first made plan for the trip, we had ten people on the list. The travel agency was able to book a private tour with a van and our own driver. Our itinerary included Beijing, Xi’an, Guilin and Hong Kong. We flew from Los Angeles, U.S. to Beijing, China to start our tour. The travel agency made arrangement for the connecting flights and had local guide/driver pick us up from each city. Several weeks before the trip, three family members were not able to make it. With only seven of us, we thought the travel agency would put us in a large group. It was fortunate that we still could have our private tour.
During this trip, we saw faces everywhere. In this post I only include a few photos of Beijing and two photos of Hong Kong. At the Beijing airport, we were a small crowd with seven of us and a few people around. I love to take scenery photos, but in popular vacation places, it’s hard to take photos without including a crowd.
In fact, Will, my son-in-law’s mom Kathy had never seen a big crowd such as the one she saw in Hong Kong, and she gave us a surprised look! The night life is full of energy in this city!
A private tour sounds great. Generally, here also travel agencies arrange for separate vehicles if there are more members in a group. It’s really fun. The pictures are nice. No doubt you had enjoyed your trip a lot… 🙂
Your travel agencies sound good. I don’t know if my husband, at this point, is interested in going to India. My brother-in-law stationed in Cairo, Egypt for 5 years, but my husband wasn’t interested in going there. 🙂
Egypt is a wonderful place for those who love history. My sister visited a few months back, and she was so excited even after returning from the trip 😀 Her husband was not very happy, though, as he loves adventure tourism more.
Wow! A private tour, Miriam? That is a blessing. 🙂 Such lovely photos. I think one is the Great Wall of China (I’ve never been there). Love to all, Debbie
🤣I lived in HK for 2 years once and I had a great culture shock as I moved from Oregon to HK. So crowded and everything rush rush..night life is so vibrant!😀
Oh, I didn’t know you lived in Oregon! When I first came to US, I lived in Portland, OR and Seattle, WA for 3 1/2 years. I came 40 1/2 years ago. Where in Oregon did you live?
I lived in Eugene OR as I studied at University of Oregon. On weekends some of us will drive to Portland for Chinese groceries and food. On longer breaks we would like to Seattle and enjoy food at Opera Cafe where budding opera singers would work here and earn money to study. When my parents visited, I would drive them north to Vancouver from Eugene or down south to SF😁I love the Pacific NW. I miss Crater Lake, Wizard Island, Sahalie Falls, Willamette Valley😃
How wonderful! It’s a fond memory that you have. Eugene, OR is nick named university town because the population is mostly students from the university. Yes, there are many cities in the Pacific NW worth the visit. I’ve been to most of the cities except Wizard Island and Sahalie Falls. I’ll talk to my daughter about that and hope to visit those someday.
Thank you for sharing. I hope you’d tell me the name of Garfield someday.
Hugs to you!! 🙂 🙂
Yes, I know, Kim, thank you! I didn’t see the Great Wall during the year I lived in Hong Kong, It was funny that I went to China on vacation from the U.S. There are many scenic places to go in China and I haven’t gone yet!!
The crowds in Hong Kong are some of the busiest i’ve ever walked through! Nice post 🙂
