The Prompt Words for Collen’s Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge, No. 73 are Energy and Knowledge. In this Haibun, I use the synonyms Powerful for Energy and Mind for Knowledge.
Consideration
“This is my life. I can do whatever I want!” I’ve heard this comment and seen people having such mentalities. My heart aches to hear one person’s family is devastated and the members of their extended families are in turmoil due to one member who has made choices to change his life. It prompts me to wonder what goes on in a person’s mind and what experiences lead to one’s conclusion. When someone is about to decide, does he consider the consequences and what it would mean to the loved ones in his family, and the people he knows or doesn’t know? This bewilderment makes me be aware of my ultimate selections.
Sometimes we just stumble upon what we need to read!
Mind is powerful indeed but needs to be controlled. I’ve had it at the receiving end and mind has been a terrible master.
Indeed when we take decisions, some of us may not take family or other loved ones in consideration. But some of us certainly do. But sometimes we need to believe that what we are doing (even if not acceptable for the loved ones) will turn out to be good for the ones we care for !
With the advent of nuclear families, such decisions biased on one’s needs alone without consideration of it’s ripple effect on others have become a common practice. This is a good reminder for all of us, to make our decisions wisely. Thank you for sharing, Miriam.
Sorry to hear you have not been sleeping well and I hope you will feel better soon. Your post rings very true, I have met people who behave like that over the years and they rarely seem to be in a good place within themselves 💜
Thank you, Colleen, for your warm welcome. You website has a new look. I was exploring all the new features and new happening. Congratulations on your iMovie and the jewelry addition! 🙂
Oh, thank you! My dear friend, Irene has been making the calcite fairy stone pendants for over a year now. I need to order some from her. Thanks for the reminder. 😀
How I relate to this post of yours! It is a thought that often occurs to me, a simple thought but one that has a potent effect. ‘Ripple effect’ as you put it so well. xx
Indeed our minds are powerful. The attitudes and biases influence our behavior.
And the behavior creates waves of emotions in other folks.
Which in turn ripples on to yet more people.
Might it rebound back?

Thank you Pranitha! If the ripple effect is positive, it’s good to take the leadership to make the changes, but if it’s negative… 🙂

Yes, that’s true, Xenia. It’s the people who are unsure about themselves that they have less ability to be considerate.
Thank you for your kind word about my sleeping. I have to make adjustment with my new medications. 🙂

Profound words, Miriam. Though it’s our life, we often forget how other lives are connected strongly with it. A nice reminder…

Yes, indeed. I do believe that “what goes around comes around.” I do know people who act like there are no consequences. It’s sad!

Most people are inherently selfish and for such people, their decisions are primarily centred around them.

Yes, exactly, Jacqueline! I lived with one for ten years. He was told by his boss that he had tunnel vision!!

I’ve been there. I’m a survivor of someone’s terrible’s decision. He’s gone but I have to live with his pain forever. Thank for the poem

Yes, I understand that feeling fully. I’m a survivor also even though my poem refers to a current situation of a friend. Thank you for sharing!!
