Tuesday Photo Challenge – Time Changes
Last weekend was my first time watching The Frankenstein Chronicles, the Netflix TV series with Sean Bean as John Marlott. My husband started watching it last Thursday night. He was watching Season 1, Episode 2 when it caught my eyes with Sean Bean’s familiar face. After I found out that it was the Frankenstein story, I started watching it half-heartedly. I’m not a horror movie fan. I don’t watch scary movies or TV shows at night. They give me nightmares. But these Frankenstein series were good at staying with the detective story rather than a scary one. I found myself wanting to watch what happened next. We stayed up three nights to watch the 2 seasons with 12 episodes. It was Saturday night at 1:00 a.m. (on Sunday) when we finished the last episode. We slept in the next mornings.
We missed church, inevitably, because we got up late. By 3:30 p.m. I started noticing the time on my computer and my phone was different than the time on the clocks that need to be set manually. We went on a late lunch, using the lunch coupon that was good from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The cashier politely asked, “Do you have a dinner coupon?” So, I used a dinner coupon. I started questioning about what happened to the time difference. That was when the possibility of time change came up. But it was only March 11, I thought. Yes, spring forward, fall back. Spring hasn’t come yet.
As soon as I got home, I searched on the internet of Daylight Saving Time in California. It was confirmed that we missed changing the clocks this year!
Every year I pay close attention to Daylight Saving Time starts and ends and promptly change all the clocks by 10:00 p.m. on Saturday (who would get up at 2:00 a.m. the first day of Daylight Saving Time to change the clocks?). Somehow, I let the announcement slipped out of my mind. I surprised myself!
Some countries start Daylight Saving Time on March 11. Many countries start on March 25, and some countries don’t have it. Did you miss changing the clock if your country starts on March 11?

Oh! I really regret daylight saving time. I always feel it’s inauthentic to move the clocks one hour ahead in the spring, and then pay the penalty with sudden earlier darkness by setting them back in the fall. My cousins in Arizona get to stay in standard time all year around, as well as another cousin in Alaska. I complain to my husband regularly, twice a year! 🙂

Haha, we just have headaches due to confusions of the body time clock. It used to be in late March, early April, then got expanded two weeks both ended. Yes, we complained too.😣

Ugh. Do you have daylight saving time everywhere in India? Or do some areas keep standard time year around?

I’m not sure about India. One blogger in South Africa said they don’t have it. I Googled Daylight saving time around the world, mostly, US, Canada and a few countries on the same timeline
Europe,Middle East countries have it on March 25. Majority of the countries in the world don’t have it.

Oh gosh, Miriam! I really appreciate this. 🙂 I did change my clocks — some of mine change automatically which helps.
I have a few forgiveness coaching clients in Europe, so the time change has been interesting! (Since they don’t change until March 25). We worked it out. ❤
Many blessings. I hope you and your family are doing well.
Love,
Debbie

Oh, the lab work was ordered a week ago for live test. The doctor thought it covers blood work, but didn’t. That’s okay, my fever is coming down little by little. Thank you, Debbie. ❤

In this part of the world we set the clocks only when they are down on battery, however, the husband who travels has often told me about the ritual of setting clocks at the appropriate time of the year. That was an insightful post for me, Miriam.

Oh, thank you, Pranitha. Many country do that for the reason of having energy as the days goes longer, people or offices could stay at work longer. Homes don’t turn on the light until lighter.

We don’t have daylight saving here, Miriam. It would be a disaster I think. I can only read about other people’s experiences with it.

Yes, that’s true, Robbie. I heard people having accidents driving before adjusting the new time change…!

Yes, I check the time change of the world. Australia is different than Europe and the surrounding countries.

You know what Miriam this happened to me too this year, sort of. I typically keep an eye out but it wasn’t until right before I went to bed that night, and I saw on the tv a reminder about changing the clocks. I thought that can’t be right, and looked it up on the internet, sure enough haha it was true. First year I have ever not known weeks in advance.

Margaret, I think a few years ago, it changed to add two weeks in the beginning and two week at the end of daylight saving time for saving energy purpose. I’m still trying to get used to it!
