Charli Mills at Carrot Ranch shared her passion, determination, and joy to follow her dream. Please read her exciting story here. With no surprise, the March 22 Flash Fiction Challenge is: Follow Your Dream. Write a story in 99 words, no more, no less.
Inconceivable Dream
“I had the same dream twice, Eric.”
“What dream was that?”
“I was flapping my arms flying higher and higher.”
“Some people fly in their dreams.”
“Well, Gorge, last night IN my dream I woke up, talking about my first dream with my sis.”
“That was your second level of inconceivable, deepest desire in your subconsciousness. What do you want to do when you grow up?”
“I don’t know.”
“Close your eyes. Take a deep breath and breathe out slowly. What do you feel you want to do?”
“A pilot.”
“Follow your dream. You’ll see breadcrumbs along the road.”
Thank You so much Miriam for this love and understanding. I am not deleting my blog. Will keep in touch with you always. Also going to read your wonderful refreshing posts. Let me know when you complete your memoir. I would love to read it too.
Your daughter is right we all should make some videos. Life is unpredictable. Who knows what memories become remarkable. I wish we had recorded videos of my brother too.
You and your family is God gifted full of life and courageous. I will keep you in my prayers always. Lots of love!
I’m so glad we’ve met, Meenakshi. We’ve gone through long journeys in different ways. I’m going to see my daughter in 6 days. I just found some documents from the court psychologist during our custody battle when she was seven. We’ll have a lot to talk about. I hope it won’t spoil her Mother’s Day. Maybe I should ask her if this trip is a good time to read and talk about it. Thank you so much for your prayer.
How is your daughter doing? Pray that she has the best opportunity to make her dream come true! Love to you! ❤
Thank you for your suggestion. I think you’re right. I don’t want to spoil her excitement for the first Mother’s Day.
It’s good to have your focus and helping her to make “her dream come true.”
❤ 🙂
Hi, Meenakshi, how much did you pay to publish your poetry. The prices here are all over the places from $495 to $3,500.
As for memoir, I expect only family is interested, so I won’t spend a fortune. I may pay to design my cover. I have a software as well as friends to do the editing.
It may be hard for you to write at this time. At least you have your poetry published. It’s a great achievement.
I’m thinking about the blogging also. I’m writing my memoir. I’ll keep my blog going, may post once a week until I have my book published, then I may stop. My daughter wanted me to do the memoir. I basically do it for her and my grand kids. She even want me to do some video. She may want to see me after I passed away. It makes me sad to imagine them watching me after I passed away. But I’ll something slowly to pass on.
I’ll miss you. Don’t delete you blog. You may hop in once in a while to keep in touch.
Breadcrumbs…how lovely. In our own way, each one of us is trying to live their dream of writing, of creating new worlds, or trying to make sense of the existing one, and our breadcrumbs are the encouragement that we get from our readers, from strangers in communities like these, so that we can get one step closer to our dream.
Wonderfully put. That’s exactly what happens. I’m sure your writings are better and better each day. We learned more about our style of writing by writing more also. Thank you for your comment.
I believe when we are following our purpose, those breadcrumbs appear to us. I didn’t realize there was a term for “second -level dreams.” That’s so interesting.
That was a term in one of the science fiction movies. Those guys went down to fourth level of the dream. There was a risk of not finding a way to wake up and die in the dream. Exciting movie. My Flash fiction was fixed with many ingredients.
Yes, Jules, this flash fiction piece can be easily expanded to 2000 words, the breadcrumbs idea can be elaborates when talking to a teenager! I like your idea of having a separate site for longer fiction!
There are so many helpful hints for organizing… (pretty much any and everything). Kind of like too many good prompts and not enough time to write to them all 😉
Thank you, Kim. I pieces several incidences together. I used to fly in my dreams. I had a two-level dream two weeks ago. One concept in psychology is dream is in the subconscious – thoughts and feelings and fears don’t quite come to the conscious level. I think my dream two weeks ago prompted me to write this. I’m glad you like it! I like you piece also! Now we’re in the same Ranch!
Yes, Ranjeeta! I have been doing all my life. Not too many people have the privilege to have a straight path. Just have to do the best to maintain the responsibilities while following the breadcrumbs for personal fulfillment. I’m so glad to hear you’re doing the same!! ❤
I like the idea of breadcrumbs along the way of our dreams. If we are not quick to follow our dreams they are likely to eaten up by time. Very well done Miriam!
Thank you, Kim! Yes, I know. I for one, for practical reason, I needed to fulfill my responsibility, but I held on tight to my dream is intentionally pay attention to the breadcrumbs. What you’re saying is so true. Some people may not have the options to follow the breadcrumbs before they got eaten up!

Hi! Sorry for the late reply Miriam. Talk with her after mother’s day. This is just a suggestion.
My daughter is good. She is busy these days with her studies and some crash courses. She is the only reason for my smiles now.
No need for thanks you are precious friend for me 🧚♂️

I paid 748 $ for my book. I will suggest you not to spend too much. Just take help for cover design.

This is so nice, Miriam. I have a friend who became a pilot; it is pretty hard work and takes a lot of commitment to become a commercial pilot.

Some dreams need more than bread crumbs…but yes I can see how one has to start somewhere 🙂
I might do another but I played with two prompts leads (one being CR) here: Valuable Vagary

I put all fiction at one place, but there is a page for just the links to all the CR pieces I’ve written 😉
And yes I agree one could write for many, many words on dreams and where they can go 🙂
