Colleen’s Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge: GATHER & SOFT
The prompt words for Colleen’s Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge are GATHER & SOFT, Synonyms Only. I use Memories for Gather and Gentle for Soft in the Tanka this week.
Puzzle at the scene
Searching for her memories
Flashes of bits and pieces
Calms her with his gentle touch
Smile cases away her fear
~
It’s good she can still respond to his touch. Memory loss is very terrifying for both those suffering from it and from those closest to them.

Oh dear. How sad. My father suffered in that way. It was awful to watch.

Yes, it is. President Reagan had it for 10 years. He must be hanging in there for Nancy.

This is very sad, Miriam. Memory loss is very difficult for the family of the sufferer.

I know. My mom couldn’t remember us for 6 years before she passed away at 90. My friend’s mom is going through the same.

Thank you, Cheryl! Most of the trees, plants and flowers are established when I had the energy to care for them. Right now I just do as much as I could to maintain! I’m glad you like them! ❤

It is sad when those memories fade. It is a good thing that smiles can chase away fear. Beautifully written.

My friend talked about their parents a lot. That’s where her mom is at this point of Alzheimer.
