Photo Challenge – A Day at The Huntington Library
We had an outing to The Huntington Library today. We made this plan last week. The weather was getting warmer and I packed things I needed to protect me from sunlight and the heat. My skin is still sensitive to the heat and the ray of the sun, so I need to be careful. When we got up this morning, I saw the unusual hazy sky. As I looked north, the mountains were disappeared.
The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens is a collections-based educational and research institution established by Henry E. Huntington (1850–1927) and located in Los Angeles County in San Marino, California. In addition to the library, the institution houses an extensive art collection with a focus in 18th- and 19th-century European art and 17th- to mid-20th-century American art. The 500 acres property includes approximately 120 acres of specialized botanical landscaped gardens, the “Japanese Garden”, the “Desert Garden”, and the “Chinese Garden”, along with the Rose Garden, Australian Garden, Herb Garden, Shakespeare Garden. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huntington_Library
The haze in the sky blocked the heat from the sun. It turned out to be a better day for me. We walked for three hours and visited some of the Exhibits and several Gardens. The structure for the climbing roses in the Rose Garden is beautiful.

Thank you, Bette. We had a nice day at The Huntington. We’re going to Portland, Oregon to have Mother’s Day. After we come back to CA, in two days, my husband and I will have vacation in Alaska.
Happy Mother’s Day to you. ❤ 🙂

That looks like a wonderful building to visit and the gardens I could wander in all day. Love that photo of you and your husband through the arches.

Yes, it takes more than one day to cover 500 acres. We’ve gone 4 or 5 times but we only had time to go to our favorite gardens and exhibits. We’ve never been to some areas in the last 30 years.

Yes, my daughter wants to go when they come to visit on their next trip. I shared the photos with her on Google Photo.

The other nice thing about gardens is they change with the seasons so they are never the same twice. Will look forward to seeing more photographs.

My daughter wants to go to some gardens here where she is. Hopefully the weather is good, so to take some photos.

Good to hear it. It was dry when we were there, but it was in August.

This reminds me of a local garden https://www.hersheygardens.org/
They have similar gardens that you mentioned. But they are not a museum housing art works.
We went late summer/ early fall last year and I tried to take some photos of the many roses in bloom.

The blanket of flowers look gorgeous. Yes, the gardens are similar. If you post some photos, link to me so I won’t miss it. Thank you for the web link.

If I can get my hubby to ever help me down load them to my computer I can email them to you. I have some flowers from trips on my laptop – One I played with in a computer program – but I don’t remember how … You’ll see. I’ll send that. 🙂

Do you have the photos in the camera or the phone? 🙂

Both – but the phone is a flip, one of my son’s just told me one possible way to down load them. Most though are on a camera card. I have a unit with multi options for different size cards. Hubby has shown me how a few times but not often enough. I am always afraid to hit the wrong buttons out of order and mess everything up – computer wise.

When he shows you again, tell him to do it slowly, you write down the steps, draw pictures if you want to help you remember. I did that a lot when I did the complicated thing with the computer when I was working. ❤

Yes, it is. I could never cover enough areas on one trip, Every time we go, we go to the same exhibits and gardens. So there are areas we have never visited.

I’m glad this brings back your pleasant memory. When I lived close by it. I know many students went in from somewhere and stayed there to study.

I only post 4 of mine – the top 4. I took about 100 photos. The ones below are from the website. Flash light was not allowed indoor for the exhibits.

The investment worth $50 million in 1928 and $600 million in 2013. A lot of fine things to see. I’ve gone at least 5 times, still haven’t seen all the things!

Nice pavilion to rest while you walk. And those little bridges remind us of the Chinese and Japanese gardens we have here too

Yes, Suan. We saw the similar features in Chinese and Japanese gardens in many other states or countries.

Thank you, Elaine. It was a surprise of how the picture was framed by a guy we asked to take our picture. He did a good job, didn’t need to take more than one picture. ❤
