#Blue Sky Tag – Time for a little fun and distraction…#TGIF
I have not played any tag since January 2018. Sally G. Cronin at Smorgasbord – Variety is the spice of life tagged me with the Blue Sky Tag created by Rachael Ritchey
This tag sounds a lot of fun and here are a few rules to make sure the game is passed on smoothly, but these are easy to remember as they all revolve around the number 11.
11 tags, 11 answers, 11 questions
Use the Blue Sky banner
It is sort of polite to mention the person who tagged you
You need to answer the 11 questions set by your tagger
You will need to make up 11 original and interesting or funny questions for those you tag.
You need to tag 11 people
Here are the eleven questions from Sally…♥♥♥
-
What was the name of your first pet and what did you love most about them? (if you have not had a pet, substitute, boyfriend, girlfriend, or film star!)
I didn’t have pets, so I go with my girlfriend. The name of my childhood girlfriend is Shirley. She is my fifth-grade music teacher’s daughter. I love music and visited her often in fifth and sixth grades. I love listening to her playing the piano. We’ve kept our friendship throughout the years. I got to visit her and her husband when my husband and I traveled to London. They took us sightseeing for five days.
-
If you could meet anyone from history, who would you meet and why?
I would like to meet President Abraham Lincoln because I admired his desire to learn credited to his mother and stepmother. Even though schools were not available, he managed to study law, became an attorney, congressman, and President of the United States. He was the only President who has a patent for his invention.
-
What are the most common misconception people have about you?
This is a good one, people usually think of my age a lot younger than I am. Overall, people look younger these days, so the number doesn’t really matter.
-
If you could buy any car in the world what would it be and why?
When I bought my current car which is an Acura, I made a spreadsheet listing all the features I wanted for a new car. I compared the prices among Audi, Lexus, Infinity, and Acura. They all have the features I wanted, but Acura was less expensive. I’m practical. I want a reliable car, not something that impresses somebody. My next car would have a navigator and a rear mirror that shows how far I back up the car.
-
Do you have a hobby your friends don’t know about?
I play computer scribble (against a computer player). My husband and my daughter know about it, but it didn’t come up in the conversation with my friends, so they don’t know about it.
-
What was the last movie you saw at the cinema?
Oh, it was the Metropolitan Opera – Live HD Encore of Puccini’s La Bohème.
-
Describe your perfect day
Have morning coffee in my garden and no appointments for the day. Better yet, visit my daughter in Portland, Oregon and spend the whole day babysitting my 10 months old granddaughter.
-
Summer or winter?
Winter, because it rains, we need rain storm. Our winter is short so it won’t get too cold.
-
Looks or Personality?
Personality. The look won’t last for too long. ♥♥♥
-
City or countryside?
I’ve lived in different cities my whole life. I don’t know what it is like living in the countryside.
-
Action or comedy?
Comedy with the replay of my favorite comedian.
Here are my eleven questions should you accept this fun play.
- When was the last time you handwrote something lengthy?
- Does your birth order affect your achievement?
- Do you listen to music while you read or write?
- What was your favorite childhood holiday?
- Are you open to try strange food?
- Are you a collector of anything?
- What is your natural talent?
- Are you adventuresome?
- Sleep with the door open or closed?
- Morning lark or night owl?
- Tea or coffee?

Thank you for thinking of me! ❤ This looks so fun – I'll try to post it soon. 🙂
I never knew that Abraham Lincoln invented something!
I'm the opposite. I've never lived in the city unless you count when I stayed at my grandma's for three days a week back in 2012. And it wasn't like… a big city. It was more like a town. I didn't like the car noises and such. I'll stick to the countryside. 😅

I look forward to your post. Send me the link. Yes, click on the link of invention to find out about Lincoln’s invention. 🙂

Somehow I missed that – thanks for pointing it out. 😀 That is so cool – I sure didn’t expect it to be about boats!

Thank you, Debby. My mind was lazy last night. So it didn’t take long to do some fun thing. Have a wonderful weekend.
Oh, may I ask you a question. How do I request for a beta-reader and do I send in Word or PDF file? ❤ 🙂

Hi Miriam, there are many ways to seek beta readers. Many authors like myself usually have their arsenal of author or blogging friends who enjoy the genre we write in for beta feedback. Others also put up a post on their blog, describing their upcoming book and asking to contact if they are interested in an Arc copy (advanced review copy) to offer feedback on story line, character development, plot holes, continuity, etc. There are also beta readers for hire on many platforms. You have to put out the world. And speaking of word, I find it much easier to read a Word doc because I can send it to my Kindle too and read. Whereas a PDF doesn’t always display properly in Kindle. 🙂 ❤

I went to a Writers’ Conference and got some tips to use Word doc. One of them is to highlight a portion of the writing then click the speech bubble on the toolbar, and a speaker reads the text. I let my husband listen to part of the writing, he finds it easy to listen then to read. I also belong to a critique group, I’ll see how I progress with my writing in a couple months.
Thank you so much for sharing. I keep a copy of your advise.
You use your pen name to write your memoir. If you do it over, would you use your real name.
I changed names and places for part of my memoir because I don’t want my ex to haunt me. For that portion, I’m not sure what name to use. The parts of my life before and after the first marriage, I do want to use my real name and no one would be offended. I’m writing the darker portion though. ❤ 🙂

Miriam. it’s good to hear you’re using the speech bubble. I use that ‘text to speech’ feature when in revisions to listen to my book for final edits.
As far as a pen name goes. No, I wouldn’t change it, and my pen name isn’t at all far from my true name. D.G. are my initials and Kaye is a shortened version of my maiden name. I too went with a pen name because I had a stalker too! In my first book I chose not to elaborate on it because I was scared if he found me and read that part he’d sue me, despite changing his name, description and job. So if you still have those fears, you may want to consider a pen name. It doesn’t have to be far off from your own name, perhaps initials and a twist of your last name? ❤

Thank you so much, Debby. His sharp tough is still present. Even though my daughter suffers the same turmoil, she doesn’t have the heart to disown him. He is trapped in another country due to his physical condition and the doctor doesn’t allow him to fly. But I still have to be cautious. Thank you for your advice. ❤

Thank you, Debby. I have several writing projects going. I need to think about how to deal with the author name. ❤

Perhaps initials and a slight variation on your maiden name? 🙂 ❤

Yes, I’m thinking about that. Am I going to keep this name all future books? I’m doing a poetry book first. ❤ 🙂

As long as your writing remains in the nonfiction genre,. yes. If you use another name again, I’m warning you how many social sites and pages you’ll have to babysit. Most writers only use another pen name when they begin writing in a new genre. 🙂

I understand the work to babysit the social sites. I’m a member of We Love Memoir. That is a lot of work also because those members have their books of memoirs, social sites, and I participate in some. My poetry is nonfiction, so I hope I just use one name. 🙂

Yes, you will be fine with one name whether memoir or nonfiction. Down the road if you feel like dipping into fiction, you may want to consider another name. But honestly, I know a few authors who are writing in mixed genres now and sticking with one name. I know I would too. 🙂

Yes, I’ve seen Fiction with a tag line – based on true story or A “True Story” of… I went to an best seller’s author presentation, she wrote 12 short fiction – barely long enough to qualify as novel. They are mostly stories about her grandma era or the town she lived. 🙂

I know Amazon just ask authors to click two categories when do self publishing. As long as they don’t click fiction and nonfiction for the same book. 🙂

Exactly. I always check Memoir and nonfiction 🙂
