Colleen’s Poetry Challenge – Fall & Try
The prompt for Colleen’s Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge is Fall & Try, #SynonymsOnly.
The fall season is a delightful time to be in Portland, Oregon. The leaves are changing colors. Some trees are changing gradually. some changed completely. I’m glad my camera is always with me to capture these moments.
Summer wants to stay
Its admirable effort
Gives way to autumn
Performs the gorgeous show of
Yellow, ruby, brown, and gold
Beautiful

I haven’t seen your post through my WP reader for a while…

Thank you, Amy! I haven’t posted for two weeks. I went to Portland, Oregon for my granddaughter’s birthday for a week. After I came back to CA, I haven’t been sick. Also, I’m pushing the finish line to do editing for my poetry, hoping to publish in a couple weeks… they all happened at the same time!

Thank you, Meenakshi. The doctor prescribed antibiotics but asked me not to take it unless it gets worse. He said the flu will run its own course for 10 days. It’s still there but it’s not getting worse. 🙂
Thank you for your good wishes for Autumn. She is so cute. ❤ ❤

Hi Miriam! Where are you these days? No new post?

Oh, Meenakshi! So good to hear from you! I have been sick for a week. Prior to that, I went to Portland for a week for my granddaughter’s first birthday.
I’m almost done formatting the interior of the poetry book, just have some before and after chapters matters to finalize. I designed the book cover, so still working on the blurb. But I think have it.
I haven’t visited anyone’s blogs for several weeks.
How are you doing?

Yes, I think leaves change at a different time in different places. In southern California where I am, not many leaves change colors. 🙂

Miriam, your photographs are stunning, and your words capture their beauty succinctly. We don’t have fall here. It looks amazing.

We don’t have fall in southern California wither. Now I can come north every year for my granddaughter’s birthday and watch the autumn leaves.

So excited for you, Miriam! ❤ Looking forward to reading your book and wishing you much success. Let me know if there is any way I can help with your book launch. I'm working on my first poetry (haiku) book now and must take time to get it put together… I do love your poetry! xo

Thank you so much, Bette. I bought your books long time ago. Now that I’ve put my book together, I need to be involved in the book review. Should I have a few days of free download for the book launch? I also will ask friends to reblog my book launch. I’ll need your help to reblog. >3 xox

I would suggest a few days of discount during the launch vs. free download, Miriam. That will be my strategy for MY MAINE, Haiku through the Seasons. BUT, I would definitely check with a few other authors for further insight about reduced/free pricing. As for reviews, I would be delighted to read/review before the launch or afterward as you wish. AND, I’ll be delighted to host your launch post on my blog. I generally use my WordPress Admin–set up Launch Post(s) using the ‘visual editor'(tab)/ then switch to ‘text editor’ THEN COPY the post(s) and paste in WordDoc(s) so I can send them to my launch host friends, making it easy for them to copy and paste for publication on their blogs. ON MY BLOG, I just save these as DRAFTS for the time being, unless I’ll be using the same post on my own blog as well. Keep me posted! ❤ xoxoxo

I wanted to have 2 or 3 recommendations listed on my back cover. I lost some time because it took a while before I found out that some are too busy to do it.
I haven’t looked at the feature you mentioned on WordPress Admin set up. I need to look at it. I may have three weeks before launching, I feel like it’s too late to ask any one for the before launch review. There are about 100 poems. 99% of them are within one page of the 6X9 book.
If you have time to do the before lunch review and write a brief recommendation, I could email you the Word Doc of my book.
My first promotion at a book signing event is October 4. I’ll do whatever I can. ❤ ❤
Thank you, Bette! xox

P.S. I do this rather than asking for reblogs during the launch. This way, all the Launch Posts for your new book will be original posts on your ‘helpers’ blogs. But, don’t hesitate to ask for reblogs of your own launch post too! 🙂
