Colleen’s Poetry Challenge – Celebrate & Number
The prompt for Colleen’s Poetry Challenge this week is Celebrate and Number
We had a double celebration on Thanksgiving Day. My sister-in-law’s birthday is on November 21, mine is November 22. Every so many years, my birthday falls on Thanksgiving Day. Kriss and I had a joint birthday party on that day with thirty-two members with several members who couldn’t join us. What a blast!

We
Gather
Together
Once, twice a year
For family folks
Live in further distance
Keeping in touch with latest
Cheering youngest and soon coming
Strong bonding warms the hearts and builds strength
Assures support in a lonely world

Especially love this one Miriam– about strong bonds and cheering on the young ones in the family. We have a big (almost 50 of us) family Christmas Eve at my brother’s and it’s that way–always love the time catching up with nieces and nephews and their little ones. And- your dinner together looks awesome! xo friend.

Thank you, Rhonda. Devon (Lynton’s sister-in-law) and I take turns to host Thanksgiving dinner. For Christmas, we go to the other sides of the families. Wow, you’ll have 50 for Christmas Eve at your brother’s house. Hope it’s potluck.

Sounds good, Rhonda. Just came home for the Messiah performance. Paul & Sue, Dave & Lynn were in the first row seats.

Yes, Carol, some families still have unmarried adult children. It will be different 5 or 10 years from now! 🙂 xox

Well my wife worked at the hospital, two sons and grandsons in Florida, one son and grandson in Idaho. But, she brought home turkey dinners and we went next door for Thanksgiving dinner late afternoon with our neighbors. 🙂

Yes, I know, Walt. My husband’s brother has two grown up children and they are in different states. Young people just go for where the jobs are or move away for many reasons. I’m glad your wife takes care of you and you joined the neighbor for Thanksgiving. 🙂

Thank you, Colleen. It was the best family celebration we had had. Some members are retired and more relaxed, didn’t need to rush home. It was wonderful. ❤

Thank you, Willow. It was the best one we had had for a long time. Partly because some family members are retired – not in a hurry to leave. Some were all prepared to keep going for a camping (in camper) trip, didn’t have to hurry home. So we lingered for a lot longer than previous years. ❤
