February 7, 2019: Flash Fiction Challenge
February 7, 2019, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story that includes a sign. It can be a posted sign, a universal sign, a wonder. Go where the prompt leads.
Sightseeing – Kyoto, Japan
“We arrived at Mount Arashiyama. Let’s get off the bus here.”
“Where do we go, Carl?”
“Follow the sign to the Iwatayama Monkey Park.”
“The sign points to the top of the mountain.”
“We’re at the right place, Gail.”
“Oh, the climb is steep, I’m out of breath.”
“There must be a reason to have so many benches on the way.”
“I can see the monkeys and many Park keepers now.”
“The view of Kyoto is spectacular from here.”
“What are the monkeys doing? Do they have lice?”
“No, they’re grooming each other as part of the social interaction.”
So cool! And wow, what pictures to go with it – you’re so multi-talented!

Thank you so much, Margaret. I almost felt out of shape climbing the mountain, and made sure to catch my breath. I didn’t want to have a heart attack to spoil the fun. 🙂

Yes, I didn’t tell anyone not to worry them, just tried to pace myself. 🙂

Oh, hi, Molly. Good to see you here. Yes, the monkeys are lovely. I’m still trying to catch up after our Hong Kong/Japan trip. Will head over to your blog soon!

Yes, it was, all the ups and downs! Celebration of my nephew’s wedding and seeing family and friends. But sadly that one of my sisters passed away from major illness but good thing that she was in the hospital only for three days, didn’t suffer for too long!

The sign to a monkey park is not one I’ve yet seen! We all need signs to point the way no matter where we are in the world. Great photos, too, Miriam!
