RDP Tuesday: My Garden – A Poem
This post is written in response to the Ragtag Daily Prompt Community. The prompt for Tuesday February 19, 2019 is Garden.
“Tell us what garden means to you or what garden you dream of. Put it in a poem, a photograph, a story.” – drkottaway
Here are some flowers in my garden and a poem to tell what garden means to me.
My Garden
My garden is a sanctuary, a place to retreat
A daily dose of therapy I get for my soul and spirit
I eagerly touch the soil with bare hands when
The gardening gloves are right at my reach
As I trim the plants and pull the weeds
Dense fog lifted out of my sight
Clouds and the clutter of the mind
Parted and cleared out of the way.
My garden is where I go in the morning
Before starting any routine of the day
This is lovely Miriam. Being out in our gardens is so soothing isn’t it? 🍀🌹

Yes, Miriam, I spend a good deal of time in my garden. Sometimes I do my computer work out there, but I’m so distracted by the birds, flowers, and everything goes on out there. 🙂 ❤
Congratulations for the nomination for Best Lifestyle Blog. You surely show your wonderful lifestyle. ❤

A beautiful and serene poem, Miriam. It makes me long for spring and getting my hands in the dirt. ❤

The sun peeks out today but another storm is coming. I may get out and plant some seeds while it’s warm. ❤

Super poetry as usual Miriam, and pretty flowers too. I always feel like you put your whole heart into growing any garden you tend. For us humans, it’s your spiritual gift. Thank you!

Thank you so much Sparkyjen! Gardening is something I totally enjoy, it’s not work at all. This morning was a good example. I thought I just went out to tend a few flowers. I was out until my husband knocked on the window to call me in for breakfast.
I’m glad you like my flowers!!

Wow…you must have gotten up early to tend your flowers then. I suspect your 🌸 🌺 💐 Are part of your morning meditative practice. Sweet!

Basically I get up when I’m ready because I’m retired. 🙂 ❤

I feel you. So am I, and so do I. I’m a night owl 🦉 too, so don’t go to bed until the wee wee hours. ☺️

Yes, I know. Somehow the brain has more juice when the night covers all the distraction. 🙂

Gorgeous flowers! I love how you equated pulling the weeds, to clearing your head before starting your day! Lovely, Miriam. ❤

I continue to do my other three challenges. They take more time, so I’ll do the RDP to fill in the rest of the week. A lot of the poems in my book were written back in the WP days because I wrote more free verse poems.
Writing in poem forms take more time. 🙂

My verse for “sprout” just came as I wrote. It is it’s raw form. No editing or re-think. That’s how I usually write poems. The words flow and stop. I guess I am a free verser 😀

Yes, I like to write free verse. It feels so good that I wrote My Garden in less than half an hour, 🙂 and some lines seem to rhyme!! 🙂

My rhyming is not a factor….one day I may decide to rhyme but that may become a song lol

I rhyme kind of naturally from all the nursery rhymes I read to my kindergarten students and my daughter.
