Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #70: Monochrome – B&W
For this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #70, Patti is inviting us to explore the world of monochrome–which includes black and white and sepia, as well as different shades of one color.
This is my second post of this theme. I include the black and white photos from my archives.

very nice photos.

Miriam, these are beautiful! Isn’t it strange how by showing less colour we actually see more … the hidden depths unveiled! Makes me want to play around with monochrome photos and see what I discover!

Thank you, Annika. I like the way it turned out in the first photo. The velvety petals of the hibiscus looked shiny. I must say I don’t have too many B&W photos though.

I like them all, Miriam. There is an absolute beauty in black and white photos that we don’t get in color.

I agree with you, Pete. Think of the good old days. Media tried their best to make black and white look good.

In a weird and wonderful way, it makes the contrast stand out sharper, doesn’t it? I love the fountain!

Yes, Jacquie. I think the contrast makes good black and white photos, otherwise, the images just get washed out. I’m glad you liked the fountain!

I hadn’t thought about him being in the challenge.
YUP … right before my eyes but didn’t see him.

What beautiful photos. It gives me a better idea of how other species see, who don’t see color. I recently stumbled on a blog post showing how a dog views colors in the world. Quite interesting.

Thank you for your comment, Jacqui! It reminds me of my brother-in-law who is color-blind of two colors, I hope it’s not red and green!! Just for the sake of seeing the traffic lights.
I understand many animals don’t see the images the way we see them. It’s amazing to learn how the animals live and survive in a unique way.

I never like black and white as much as colour, Miriam. These are pretty though.

I know, Robbie, thank you. When I watched the black and white movies, it made me think the colors would have been gorgeous. Some black and white movies have elaborated costumes and backgrounds.
