Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #94: At Home
This week for Lens-Artists Photo Challenge, Amy said, “Due to the lock down, we are spending more time at home. But, hopefully this isn’t limiting our interest in photographing. This week, we invite you to share photos taken at home.”
“When you’re safe at home you wish you were having an adventure; when you’re having an adventure, you wish you were safe at home.” – Thorton Wilder
This is the seventh week staying home for me. Like most of the people, I go out only when it is absolutely necessary. I face each day with the hope to stay healthy to enjoy my grandchildren when the pandemic is over. There are enough things at home to keep my life interesting such as gardening, checking my daughter’s Tinybeans account where she posts the photos of my grandchildren, reading or re-reading paperback books, exercising, and even cooking a couple times a week (my hubby took over the full time cooking when he was retired in 2016. Lucky me!).
Spring is in the air. The buds are all over my 30 rose bushes. I started with 12 pink rose bushes. Eventually I added 10 white iceberg rose bushes, and some orange and yellow roses. Now it’s not so boring looking at the roses.
Most of the plants in my garden are low maintenance. I do have several patches for annual flowers and this is the time to plant new flowers.
Nothing gives me greater joy to see the photos of my granddaughters every day.
When weather permits, I go on a walk in the neighborhood. On some other days, I can do yoga at home.
Piles of book for reading and re-reading.
My new cooking is this Sausage and Vegetable Casserole. One 9″ x 13″ dish last for three alternate days for lunch. On the other four days, hubby cooks his regular lunch.

I’m doing fine, Marje. Yes, I missed them. Video chat with my daughter, my older granddaughter learnedness so much in reading and speaking. I wish to be there in person to observe that. Take care. 💖

Yes it’s tough, so hard to be in this situation. I’m missing my mum dad and brother in Scotland. Can’t wait to see them. ❤

How’s that new grand baby doing Miriam? Have you scheduled a visit yet?

No, Tina. We are still very cautious here in southern California. No celebration for Cinco de Mayo today. It may be several months before I feel safe to travel.

I know, Tina. There were several funerals here, only had drive through to offer conference. I video chat with my daughter often and peek at the grandkids.

Thank you, Liz. Babies are precious. They give us so much joy. There are several spots in my front yard and garden in the back I go to in rotation. I also write more with pen then type on the computer. Just try to have more variety than looking at the computer all day…! Do you work at home full time!

Hi, Vashti! Good to see you. Yes, just touch on little bit of things I do at home. I heard that stores in Florida are opening gradually. Is it right? What do you think about that?
Thank you for reading and comment. ❤

Florida is a big state so if it’s true, I’m guessing it’s probably northern Florida. I live in Broward County/Miami which is southern Florida. The stores, schools, clubs, gyms, and restaurants are still closed. Some supermarkets are open but only allow a few people in at a time and some restaurants do have take-out. I believe they’re opening parks and beaches gradually. Department stores will probably be the last places to open. We’re still on lock down. We’re going on almost 2 months now. I hope the numbers of people confirmed positive for coronavirus have stopped climbing because otherwise it makes no sense for them to be opening anything.

So far only stores with essential goods are open. No restaurants are open except take outs. I just went to Best Buy to get ink cartridge, they only take online or curbside order. No one goes into the store. When my order was ready, I went to the only table at the front of the store for a contactless pick up. California is doing better from being the third of the list to the fifth, and Florida is the eighth. I think we have to be cautious about reopening. Even when traveling resumes, I’ll wait for a while before going to see my granddaughters. I do it for them, not for me. What we experience right now could only thought of what it would be in horror movies. When this is over, we would think that it was a nightmare.

I agree with you in that we shouldn’t rush to reopen. We don’t want to go backward. This is surreal. You’re right to be cautious.

It’s Cinco de Mayo today. We used to have downtown blocked off for the celebration but cancelled it. It’s wise not to have it.

Excellent. Flowers, babies, books, SAUSAGE and veggie casserole. What’s not to like? My small library has enough rereads to last a lifetime, if I could only get to it.

I know, John. Don’t we all have books for rereading that last a lifetime. I sometimes forget where the books are as I have them in several places rather than centralized them.
