Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #112 – Pick a Word…
This week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge, Ann-Christine gave us a list of words and invited us to choose one (1) word or more or choose all of them and illustrate the words with photos! The words available are the following:
Comfortable, Growing, Tangled, Crowded, Exuberant
Comfortable
After six months of waiting, I finally felt comfortable to get on the plane to visit my granddaughters. My daughter Mercy and I planned carefully. They self-quarantine for two weeks prior to my visit. I did the same. I booked the premium seats to avoid passing through many passengers.

Growing
Both girls are growing so fast. Autumn will be three in September. Nora turned five months during my visit.
Autumn’s language development amazed me. Sometimes when the grown-ups carried on a conversation at the dinner table, she would ask, “What are you talking about?” She wanted to be part of the conversation. After breakfast, she would ask, “Grandma, you want to play puzzle with me in the family room?” We did projects in the morning and played games indoor or went to the park in the afternoon.

Nora is a happy child. She loves to “talk” and make loud sounds. She smiles a lot.

Crowded
There are mature crowded raspberry bushes in the garden. My daughter, Mercy, and Autumn picked raspberries every day. Autumn ate as many as she picked.

Yes, Liz. I had a fabulous time with my granddaughters. Five days went by so fast. There were so many more things I wanted to do with Autumn. Now I know what she can do and what she is ready to do next, so I ordered two learning kits for her. I look forward to do them with her during my visit next month.

So happy for you, Miriam! I love that–the premium seats. I’m visiting my sister and booked 1st Class! With my miles of course but that’s the first time I’ve done that. And for the same reasons. I can’t wait to see my family.

I’m excited for you, Jacqui, for seeing your family soon. Yeah, for Alaska Air, the first class is rows 1 to 4. premium id rows 6 to 9, I think, no row 5, I don’t know why. Alaska blocks the aisle seats on one side to keep social distancing. I paid attention to the airlines and cases of CA and OR for a few months before planning this trip. It turned out fine.
I’m sure your trip will be wonderful. I understand the anticipation, Jacqui!

Thank you, Norah! Nothing makes me happier than seeing Autumn and Nora talking and doing things, especially watching Autumn’s language development as I shared with you earlier.
I told Mercy that I could go to see them every six weeks now, with our routine of social distancing and keep the safety measure.

Exactly, Norah. It’s amazing that Autumn remember things about my visit long time ago and things she did a while back. When people said, “I remember… when I was…” I didn’t think it was possible, but if Autumn continues to refresh such memories, one day, she could say I did such and such at two years old.

Wouldn’t that be wonderful, Miriam. I think my earliest memories are from about the time I turned three, or maybe a little before. There are not many but a few. Others are only memories because they have become family stories. I think that’s another important reasons for telling family stories and taking photos. They help cement the memories.

Thank you, Jill. It was surreal… I couldn’t believe I actually saw them and did things with the girls. Mercy and Will even went to the store for a couple hours in the evening. I usually watched Autumn and let them have date nights. So glad they could go out for a couple hours! ❤

So lovely, Miriam. Your post warmed my heart immensely. I long to visit my four grandchildren in the greater NYC area, and you’ve given me ideas of how to make that happen. Have a wonderful, blessed day! ♥

Oh, Gwen, after this trip, I have more confidence in traveling. I told my daughter not to keep Autumn from going to the daycare. The daycare runs safely, having small groups of 4 or 5 toddlers. They check the kids and ask parents questions every morning.
My son-in-law even had a Covid test to make sure the whole family was healthy not to carry virus to affect me. They don’t have to do it for my next trip. I think they’re okay.
My son-in-law took Autumn to a two-day hiking trip. There was one other family in the nearby camp site. They also went to the beach a couple times. They usually go to quiet places.
My husband’s niece is getting married in early November in DC area, we may go. The cases and death rate in NY came to the bottom on the list among the states.
I hope you will get to visit your grandchildren soon! ❤
