Lens Artists Photo Challenge #137 – Soft
This week for the Lens Artists Photo Challenge #137, Ann-Christine wanted to continue with another S – Soft. This is all about how we interpret Soft.
I see soft Physical appearances, softness of characteristics, and hear soft sounds everywhere. The photos included here represent the several things that are soft in sight and in touch.
“Perfect happiness is a beautiful sunset, the giggle of a grandchild, the first snowfall. It’s the little things that make happy moments, not the grand events.” – Sharon Draper

This photo was taken from the ship of the Ensenada Cruise. It was my first time watching the soft glow of sunset in the middle of the ocean, even though we were not too far from land.
“Nature is a mutable cloud which is always and never the same.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

We saw the fluffy clouds all the time when we were in Maui, Hawaii. They don’t seem to bring any rain except on one trip among our multiple trips.
“Water is the softest thing, yet it can penetrate mountains and earth. This clearly shows the principle of softness overcoming hardness. ” Lao Tzu

Water is soft, but when it combines with other natural phenomena, it can be powerful. The tide was coming in this sunny afternoon on the Makena Beach, Maui.
“The red rose whispers of passion, and the white rose breathes of love; O, the red rose is a falcon, and the white rose is a dove. ” – John Boyle O’Reilly

I love the softness of the Iceberg Roses. The innocent color brings me refreshing calmness.
“The only escape from the miseries of life are music and cats…” – Albert Einstein

This was my daughter’s neighbor’s cat. She had such an unusual combination of soft fur colors and soft blue eyes, and I wondered if it was a kitten. I would love to have a kitten like this one.
“A wee bit of Heaven drifted down from above, a handful of happiness, a heartful of love. When the baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into thousands of pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies.” From Peter Pan

Thank you for Balroop Singh‘s comment on the softness of a newborn baby. I added this photo of my younger granddaughter Nora. My daughter Mercy did a photoshoot of her when she was three weeks’ old. Nora will be one-year-old on March 22! I look forward to going to her birthday party.

What a beautiful post, Miriam. I love the photos (you’re amazing) and the perfect quotes. I must say the one from Peter Pan is my favorite and the photo of you granddaughter is so beautiful!!! I can’t believe it’s been a year. Thanks for starting my day with a smile, my friend. Hugs. ❤

That one is my favorite quote also, Diana! I missed so much of watching Nora and witnessing her growth. I could only get glimpses from the videos. I’ll be packing very soon for my long anticipated trip. Thank you for your comment, my friend! ❤

Your posts are always so peaceful, Miriam. Thank you for these brief moments at the start of my day. I continue to have problems with WordPress so keep missing posts I normally love. Sigh. I just changed my theme for one of my WP blogs and I think that might have helped some. WP doesn’t like expired themes.

No worries, Jacqui! I spent more time to focus on getting my first children’s book published, so I’m behind on visiting blogs. The book is for primary grades with 2,000 words, fully illustrated. All the pages of illustration are done. I’m done with the cover, the front matter, and inserting the text. I’m working on the end matter and the blurb. Then send it out to format for eBook and paperback.

Your photos and the corresponding words reveal your creative eyes and soul, Miriam. Beautiful! The sunset, stunning! Interesting observation about water. The rose, exquisite. Balroop is right about the softness of a newborn baby. Nora is adorable. A fun birthday ahead.❤️

I love to do the photo challenge, Erica! I could go through my photos and get reminded of the beautiful things and places I’ve seen. And yes, I love the Iceberg roses. They are so tender and innocent yet so strong and hold their heads up for many days. I’m counting days to see my granddaughters. ❤
How old are your granddaughters, Erica? My first children's book is almost ready to be published. It's for primary grades with about 2,000 words. I may have PDF and MOBI files available. With MOBI, you can read it on Kindle. Those two versions would be free. It may be a while before it's available because I haven't sent it to have it formatted yet. 🙂

Oh, Tina, my daughter has done more in photography. She took two semesters in college. She did a portfolio once but didn’t use it for anything. We talked about doing something together – combine photography with reflective thoughts and poetry. Right now she two bundles of energy. We still keep that project in mind. The cat so so cute to pose for me!

This pandemic has been hard on grandparents and grandchildren. The light is growing larger at the end of this very long tunnel.

Yes, we can’t wait on vacationing but the little ones grow so fast. It’s hard when the grandparents and grandchildren miss the young ages to have fun, to laugh and bond.

I’m getting to love the Iceberg roses also, Claire! They have a light tint of pink in the center if I look closely. When I travel, I take way too many photos because I may not go back to the same place or the weather won’t be the same even if I do. I meant to delete a whole bunch afterward but I never did. 🙂 🙂 Then I may find a few I really like. 🙂 Thank you for your comment.

I needed to look at beautiful things these days. Life is not too exciting without too much going on. Thank you for your comment. Do you have kids? Teachers from my previous school district were vaccinated. Schools will reopen after the spring recess. So Kids will be back to school.

Beautiful post Miriam, soft is such a lovely word… your pictures perfectly fit the theme and those quotes enhance their meaning. Besides flowers, the image of a new-born baby comes to my mind when I think of soft. 🙂 Have a wonderful day.

Thank you, Mae! When I first planted roses, I bought almost all 10 red and pink bushes on one side of the front yard. Then I fell in love with the white Rosebery (there are pink ones), and I bought 10 bushes to pant on the other side of the front yard to balance out! 🙂 🙂 The cat sat still for my photoshoot!

I was glad to capture the sunset on the first day of the cruise, Liz. It was cloudy the rest of the trip and my husband got sick and stayed in the cabin for the last two days. I was glad to have a book with me.
I have 10 Roseberg rose bushes and bought them as1-gallon plants. I enjoy them very much.

The sunset was the highlight of the cruise, then. It’s a shame that your husband got sick.

My husband wanted to retire in Hawaii, but I would feel like a prisoner being trapped on the island. Besides, things are mostly imported and expensive!

My husband has talked about moving there too. For me I would miss the cold and like you the ability to get into the car and just drive and explore, which is limited on an island. xo
