National Poetry Month – Songs of Heartstrings by Miriam Hurdle #BookReview @mhurdle112
I’m over at Carla’s blog of Carla Loves to Read. She read my poetry collection and posted a wonderful review. Carla and I have teaching and school administration in common. She is a retired elementary school principal/teacher/teacher-librarian. She blogs about book reviews, reading challenges, adults’ and children’s books, and a lot more. Please head over to read her post and browse around her beautiful blog with different features.
I took several weeks to enjoy this book of poems. I enjoyed them and wanted time to ponder them, not rush through them. Miriam Hurdle is a blogger I follow who shares wonderful photographs, poetry and snapshots into her life among other things. I enjoy her blog and wanted to read her book. I was not disappointed.

Miriam, congratulations on such a lovely and thoughtful review! 😀 I feel she must have captured the essence of your book and it has obviously touched Carla deeply. I love how the book is divided into different Songs and that you’ve included your own photoraphy and paintings. The quoted poem is beautiful and reflects how so many have difficulty with these three simple words. Hope you’re having a good start to the week! Hugs xx ❤️

I was thrilled and appreciative of Carla’s review, Annika. Just knowing that she took weeks to read the perms slowly made me feel humble.
Yes, the poems were reflections of different aspects of my life and it’s my memoir in poetry form.
Thank you for your lovely comment, Annika. 💖🌺

I just read Carla’s review of Songs of Heartstrings. Congratulations! It’s such a big compliment for a poet to be told that the reader read, reread, and reflected upon her poems.

I appreciated you have this book in your library, Esther. We’re leaving on Saturday for a week to spend time with my granddaughters. They grow fast and we missed a lot of their progress already. 🙂

Omg…my reply is so overdue! It’s been a crazy month with wrapping up school and in the midst of evaluating myself as a teacher. Whew…worst critic.
Hope you had a wonderful time visiting your granddaughters! They probably love spending time with you guys.

The pandemic was not kind to many parents. They didn’t have a choice of being a teacher or not. I appreciated you did it. I know you did better than many parents.
I had a wonderful time with my granddaughters. I think I could watch them for two or three days and let my daughter and her hubby take a mini vacation for their 10th anniversary.

Wonderful review. A favorite line–“One other thing that I appreciated is her open love and acknowledgment of God in her life.” Agreed.
