Happy Father’s Day
Happy Father’s Day to you, to your father, grandfather, your sons who are fathers, and any fathers in your family!

I always give credit to my dad for my love of reading, my gift of a green thumb, and my natural enjoyment of exercise. He was 84 when he came to visit us in the US. My brother and his wife accompanied him because he needed to use the wheelchair sometimes. He got up at 6:00 a.m. every morning to stretch for half an hour before doing anything else. During our travel and sightseeing, he walked as much as he could. He wanted me to get the Chinese Newspaper for him every day. The closest Chinese market is twenty miles away. They keep the Chinese newspapers for three days, so I bought the ones that were one or two days old also. My dad said those were old papers. He wanted to keep up with the current news. If he had stayed longer, probably he would help me with gardening.
My dad passed away at 86, less than a year after he had a stroke.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad!
Your dad sounds like a wonderful person, Miriam, which isn’t too surprising. Like Anita’s dad, mine passed away at the young age of 63 from cancer.

Heart attack is a silent killer, as people say. My dad had a stroke and was half paralyzed. He was miserable after being active for 86 years. Thanks, Anita.

My dad got up at 6:00 a.m. for as long as I could remember, Dan! Just thinking of what he did motivates me to keep up with my exercise. I’m glad to have the option of using the machine or swimming at the gym. He had knee replacements on both knees. I hope to be spared from that.

Great memories, Miriam. Isn’t it interesting how it’s human nature to have certain habits that we follow each day? I may turn into your father as I do my stretches daily too.

You’re right, Pete! My habit and daily routine are pretty much the same – reading/writing, gardening, and exercise. I think it’s pretty good for a retirement routine.
I’m sure you have a good exercise routine, Pete because you’re back going to the gym!

I’m trying to stick with it, but I have some arthritis in my back that is problematic.

I totally understand, Pete! I’m in physical therapy for my lower back. In fact, I have back problem for 20 years. It could be something else in the earlier years. I hope the PT would help. Swimming is easier for me.

Your dad lived a long, healthy life, Miriam–beautiful memories! My dad is still with us and will be 86 next month. We will see him on the latter part of our road trip to celebrate his birthday. Your dad left you a brilliant legacy as did mine. We are blessed indeed. Today, my hubby is spending his FD packing! Happy Father’s Day to the men in your family.

It’s wonderful to hear you’ll celebrate your dad’s 86 birthday, Teri. Happy packing!
My dad could have lived longer. He was stressed out from taking care of my mom who had dimensia. She was in the hospital refused to eat hospital food. My dad took homemade food to her every day. He had a stroke after doing that for a long time.
My mom didn’t know he passed away. She lived for another four years.
Have a wonderful day!

Today is a sad day for me, as my dad died before I was born and I never met him… Do you suppose they have Father’s Day in Heaven?
LikeLiked by 2 people
Sorry to hear that, Anita! It’s a blessing for me to have my dad for a long time. I left Hong Kong 40+ years ago and only visited my family every few years before he passed away. I want to believe they have Father’s Day in Heaven, perhaps every day is a Father’s Day in Heaven.
