Thursday Doors – OMSI and Update

The Thursday Doors is a weekly challenge at Dan Antion’s site No Facility for people who love doors and architecture to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos, drawings, or other images or stories from around the world. If you’d like to join us, simply create your own Thursday Doors post and then share a link to your post in the comments in Dan’s post. You’ll see doors in most of the following photos.

Hubby and I took our granddaughters to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). My daughter gifted us an annual pass. OMSI is a popular venue for individuals and families with children. The girls have been there many times. Even though it was not too busy on this Saturday morning, we watched the girls closely. Lynton followed Autumn while I followed Nora.

I packed some sandwiches and snack items. We had a picnic lunch in the parking lot before going in. As soon as we checked in, Nora headed toward the escalator going up to the second floor. She carefully, with no hesitance, stepped onto the escalator and stepped out without delay. The Science Playground on the second floor of the museum is for families with newborn to six-year-old children. The area is enclosed and designed to keep children visible and secure. Adults can sit to watch their children learn through playing with interactive science activities.

We walked through the Life Sciences Hall with exhibits about biology. This one includes a collection of preserved fetuses at nearly every stage of development, from a few weeks after conception to full-term.

OMSI contains both an ultra-large-screen theater and a large auditorium with a stage where annual events such as science fairs occur. Before heading home, we watched the movie Autumn chose about space and the astronauts being trained to go to Mars in 2030.
