School days reminiscences of Miriam Hurdle

Norah Colvin

Welcome to the School Days, Reminiscences series in which my champion bloggers and authors share reminiscences of their school days. It’s my small way of thanking them for their support and of letting you know about their services and publications.

Miriam Hurdle, poet

This week, I am pleased to introduce Miriam Hurdle, poet, blogger, flash fiction writer, photographer, ex-teacher and educator. She blogs at the Showers of Blessings and recently published a book of poems entitled Songs of Heartstrings: Poems of Gratitude and Beatitude.

I first met Miriam at the Carrot Ranch when she rode up and joined in the flash fiction challenges. Since then, we’ve met up in many different places around the blogosphere. Considering she’s been blogging even longer than I; I’m surprised we hadn’t met earlier. We share our thoughts on education and grandchildren, and in fact on anything to do with making our journeys through life the…

Conversations With Colleen: Meet Author & Poet, Miriam Hurdle

I’m delighted Colleen invited me over to have a conversation with her. I got a chance to talk about things I’ve never written for my blog. I love to invite you stopping by her blog and find out about our conversation. ❤ ❤

The Faery Whisperer

Hello everyone! This week I’m thrilled to bring you a new author. Miriam Hurdle participates in my Weekly Poetry Challenge and I often run into her at the Carrot Ranch Literary Community, where she participates in the flash fiction challenges. When I asked her to pick three or four questions from my huge list HERE, she got really excited. We all aspire to be successful authors and the best way to learn some of the tricks of the trade is to ask questions and learn everything we can along the way.

First, please meet my guest, Miriam Hurdle.

Miriam Hurdle is a multi-genre writer. She writes poetry, flash fiction, and short stories. Her poems are included in “Letters to Gaia,” “Whispers and Echoes Issue 2,” “Whispers and Echoes Issue 3,” and “Outkast and More Words.”

She is passionate about poetry and her favorite poets are Robert Frost with…

Colleen’s 2018 #Book #Reviews – “Open a New Door,” by Authors, Robbie Cheadle & Kim Blades

Please enjoy this excellent interview of Robbie Cheadle by Colleen Chesebro and find out more about Robbie’s new book.

The Faery Whisperer

December is Poetry Book Review Month

IN THE AUTHORS WORDS:

“Open a New Door is a poetic peep into the lives of the poets, Kim Blades, and Robbie Cheadle, both of whom live in South Africa.

The book is divided into four categories: God bless Africa, God bless my family and friends, God bless me and God bless corporates and work. Each part is sub-divided into the good, the bad and the ugly of the two poets’ experiences, presented in rhyming verse, freestyle, haiku, and tanka, in each of these categories and include colourful depictions of their thoughts and emotions.”

The purpose of this book of poetry is encapsulated in the following tanka and haiku poems:

What drives me to write?
To share my innermost thoughts
The answer is clear
It’s my personal attempt
To make some sense of this world.

Inspiration blossoms
Like the unfurling petals
Of the…

Exposing your work, on #LisaBurtonRadio

You don’t want to miss this post. A wonderful conversation among the super bloggers who devote their time and energy to help and support the authors.

Entertaining Stories

Lisa Burton

Hi, all, and welcome to another edition of Lisa Burton Radio. This week is a special edition, because it’s geared to all you authors out there. It might give some good ideas to bloggers who want to host guests too.

Today, I’ve collected a group of power bloggers who host authors on their sites. This gives an author a way to reach a larger audience than they might if they were simply posting about date-night or something. This means when you have a new book to promote, or maybe to give an older title a secondary push.

We’re going to start by addressing the three-hundred-pound gorilla in the room, and I mean that literally. Chris The Storyreading Ape, hosts one of the largest author blogs around. “Did you get my fruit basket, Chris?”

“Yes I did thanks, Lisa – very thoughtful of you to use edible leaves to weave the…

The Faery Whisperer

Conversations with ColleenThe October Edition

Hello everyone! This week I’m happy to share with you, my dearest friend and Canadian author, D. G. Kaye, (Debby Gies) as my guest. Debby puts up with my silliness every day, so when I begged asked her to pick three or four questions from my huge list HERE she was willing to give it a go.

We all aspire to be successful authors and the best way to learn some of the tricks of the trade is to ask questions. Debby has answered so many of my questions about book publishing that between us, we could write a book!

As many of you know, Debby also shares her goodwill through our blogging community by sharing our posts across the web and in the various Facebook groups, she belongs to, and by always cheering us on. I don’t know what I would do without her love and optimism that she…
