Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: #25 Reflections

This week the theme for Lens-Artists Photo Challenge is Reflection, from Patti Moed.

The photos I selected for this post are reflections of water I admired during different trips near and far.

This is Puente de Alcántara Bridge over the calm river, Toledo Spain.

I took a photo of the yacht during our whale watching trip at Newport Harbor California.

On the same day of the whale watching, we had dinner at the beach and watched the sunset.

Our family went to China and visited Guilin. This is Reed Flute Cave with different color lights revealing the rock formation and the reflections from the underground water.

I have been living in southern California for 40 years. Last week was the first time my husband and I went on a cruise to see the Holiday Lights. All the homes, their yachts, cruise boats and restaurants by the water were decorated with Christmas lights. It was a treat from my daughter!

Lens Artists Photo Challenge – Everyday Moments

Newport Beach in southern California is 27 miles or 35 minutes’ drive from our home. We go often to spend half a day there. The Beach offers family activities such as whale watching, harbor cruise, fishing, dining, museum, Ferris wheel, water sports and more. We have done different activities or simply take a leisure walk along the beach.

Balboa Island is an island along the harborside. There are 3,000 residents live on 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2). A lot size on Balboa Island is 30 feet x 85 feet. Residents have private docks for their yachts. It’s delightful to walk through the community to appreciate the different motif of the decorations.

Lens Artists Photo Challenge: Time To Relax

My favorite time to relax is at the beach or the lake. Laguna Lake is within walking distance of our home, but we have to walk up the hill. We usually drive, even though it’s only a three minutes’ drive. On this relaxing walk, I love to take photos of the ducks and geese.

There are several beaches not too far away. On weekends without work traffic, it takes about thirty-five minutes to get there. Sometimes my husband and I go. Other times, I joined a women’s group to go for the walk and breakfast. I especially love to watch the tidal waves filing in. I include the photos of the walk on Newport Beach.

A little further away, my husband and I like to go to Maui, Hawaii. We go there basically to relax. We have been there four times. It feels good when walking on the beach as the waves coming in and wet our feet. Our evening walk would go until sunset. Watching the sun goes down and the sky changes the colors is an amazing experience.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Favorite Place

There are many places in the world we have traveled once. Some of them are my favorite places and I don’t mind going back to visit. I just want to be practical and choose somewhere accessible to be my favorite place. We are not too far from beaches. Among the several beaches, Newport Beach is my favorite beach, whether it takes a cruise for whale watching, or walking on the beach, or going to seafood restaurants, or watching the sunset, it’s beautiful. It’s half an hour driving from home, so we go there often.

Fun Zone at Newport Beach

Wheel 1

We went to Newport Beach last Saturday for the Ladies Morning Outing. Newport Beach offers a lot of family activities. At the Fun Zone, companies provide whale watching, surfing, boat rental, paddle boat, Jet Ski, 45 minutes of Harbor Cruise, Ferry Ride between the Balboa Island and the beach front, kids can go on the Riding Wheel  with cotton candy in their hands.

My family has gone to Whale Watching, Harbor Cruise, and boat rental. It would be fun for us to rent a boat for the family to cruise in the harbor again.

Morning Outing

Newport Beach 1

On Saturday June 24, 2017, there were about 20 ladies from our church group had a women’s annual Morning Outing. We gathered at the church parking lot, and then carpooled to Newport Beach, California. After we arrived, we parked the car on Bayside Drive, and walked through the beautiful Balboa Island neighborhood. This Island is a Prime Real Estate. The homes facing the ocean cost a bundle. Each home is a two-story building with a narrow front patio. In front of the patio are two strips of flower beds. The homeowners take pride to maximize the small flower bed space. They all have extravagant patterns of flower arrangements.

After we walked through the Balboa Island neighborhood, we took the ferry to get to the beach. We walked along the beach to the Newport Beach Pier. At the end of the Pier was the Ruby restaurant where we had breakfast. After breakfast, we leisurely walked on the pier, watched people surfing, swimming, or fishing. Some ladies left early, some left later. We all had a good exercise, good breakfast, enjoyable time of talking and laughing with each other.

Weekly Photo Challenge – New Horizon

There is a story about a little boy who lived in a village. One day he climbed the tree all the way to the top. To his surprise, he saw the ocean and could see all the way to the horizon. What a sight that changed his life!

Our mental ability is powerful beyond our imagination. As we gain new knowledge and insight, it brings us to a whole new horizon of the outlook of life.

When we traveled to different countries, we looked out to the ocean, new horizon came into sight.
