52 Weeks of Thankfulness – Week 5

This is the 52 Weeks of Thankfulness – Week 5 at Haddon Musings

My husband has been retired for six months. He is happy to spend more time at home. I’m thankful that we could do more things together. We have been keeping up our workout schedule at the gym three times a week in the morning. On the same gym day, we go to Laguna Lake where he runs and I walk in the afternoon. In the evening, we try to play board game together once a week. I’m very good at board games, so far I’m winning! This night we played Chinese checkers. I played on green and he played on blue. I reached the destination across the board to his side. He came to my side with two steps before all the checkers were in. ♥♥

Weekly Photo Challenge – Repurposed Life Value

When I worked, I worked very hard. I dedicated all of my energy and my creativity to produce the best results possible. Looking back, I’m thankful for all of my achievements in my working life. My purpose was to serve the community well.

Now that I am retired, I repurpose my life and reallocate my time and energy. My pace is slowed down to smell the flowers, or watch the ducks swimming during our walk. My new learning is for fun while keeping my mind being active. Learning new skills in fine arts and be involved in music delight me as much as my accomplishments at work. I am content with my active retirement life.

Miriam Hurdle

Miriam Hurdle grew up in Hong Kong where she went to college and worked for five years before coming to the United States. While in Hong Kong, she taught Chinese as a Second Language at Hong Kong Baptist University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong for three years. She was also the Director of the Children’s Department at the Asian Outreach where she published four Chinese Children’s books. Miriam Hurdle came to the United States for her graduate studies. She received her master’s degrees in Christian Ministry from Portland Seminary, Counseling from Seattle Pacific University, and Education Administration from California State University, Los Angeles. After teaching in a California public school for fifteen years, she was promoted to a school district administrative position. She went on to do the postgraduate studies and earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from La Verne University in California. Dr. Hurdle continued in her administrative position for ten years before her retirement. In her retired life, Dr. Hurdle enjoys doing volunteer counseling, reading, writing, blogging, singing, drawing, watercolor painting, gardening, photographing, and traveling. Dr. Hurdle is married to Lynton Hurdle and has one married daughter and one granddaughter.
